Coach Adragna says we have reached out to a Division 2 kid. Averaged 18.9 and 8.7 and shot 45% from three as a freshman. 6'8" named Elyjah Freeman played for Lincoln Memorial. Might be a good bench piece or developmental project with 3 years of eligibility.

Obviously a fan account. Can anyone confirm? Haven’t seen it anywhere else.

Hey! He played high school ball at Wellington High (near West Palm). That’s the town I raised my kids in. He’s the same age as my college freshman bball playing son—I may have coached him or against him in rec ball.

Was coached in high school by Matt Colin—he is absolutely a great high school coach. Routinely competes for highest class state championships, often with no recruited players. Trent Frazier/Illini played there as their biggest recruit previously.

Entirely likely he is from West Palm or another nearby suburb-Palm Beach County public schools have specialized academic choice programs that allow any kid to attend any school as long as they get themselves to that school. And kids that want to play for Matt Colin find a way.

FWIW; UK is also moving on this kid—he is by no means undiscovered.

Tony Adrana has added Rodney Rice to his list indicating we've reached out.

He's also added Elyjah Freeman to the list.    Originally from Wellington, FL he's attending Lincoln Memorial University, a private university in Harrogate, TN.   According to 247, he's the top rated D-II player currently in the portal and 247 ranks him as the #10 overall prospect.  Kentucky seems to be particularly interested in Freeman.

I was told a couple days ago we had reached out to Freeman. He seems interesting.

Yes, 247 has him ranked as the 88th best player in the portal -- ranked between Langston Love, 6'5" shooting guard from Baylor who averaged 9 points/game last year and Pryce Sandfort from Iowa.

Saw a little film on him and the one thing that stood out is how long his strides are....can get through the lane quick.

I believe that’s been proven to be a myth. This year Houston, Duke, and Florida are all in the final four and won the conference tournaments. Auburn got beat by Tennessee in the semi finals of the SEC tournament.

Duke and UNC traditionally have done well in the ACC tournament and in the NCAA’s the same year. Same with Kansas.

the key is to be elite and you can win them all.

None of those tournaments end on Sunday at 5:30. IIRC they all finished on Saturday

SEC finishes on Sunday at 3. 2.5 hours isn’t much. What matters is overall talent of the team and how well they play together. 1 extra days rest for 18-23 year olds is negligible at best.

lol at their star system. 5 5* then 213 4* players? That's a ton so it's pretty much meaningless.

Even with that many, Kanaan Carlyle is ranked below Gabe Cupps with both as 3* at 240 and 224, respectively. lol

Edit: Weird, after opening that page again they had 50 less players on the list. All of them 4*. So "only" 163 4* and the IU players were 50 spots above what I said. Buggy site or something.

Totally. Not to mention, for the most part these kids all come up playing AAU, where there are a ton of weekend-long tournaments and teams playing multiple games in a single day each day. Tournaments are a huge part of basketball culture obviously and that’s IMO a big part of the pride factor in conference tournaments / post season, besides the obvious of win or go home.
