someone want to point out that it hasn’t just been just tonight.

IU.took.16.three.point.shots.  If IU had made 45% of their threes, it's still a double digit loss.  It's not just about making shots -- our offense isn't getting the shots necessary.

Then again it goes back to needing and getting the shooters necessary to shoot 45%. Which going back to the off season… I would say as a coach he evaluated what he had and thought our team was fine to roll this roster out there.

There was a tremendous failure to find option B's.  Given our lack of shooting, there were certainly guys who would have made us better in that respect.

Correct. You could also say what if… The guards don’t want to come here in the portal this off season…. what next. I mean have extra summer shooting workouts. I don’t know. I just feel like a lot of this team are too far gone to fix.

But if we hit those 3’s, it would create more spacing and we probably wouldn’t have had that many turnovers.  Most of our turnovers were our players trying to dribble in a congested area and Purdue did a good job of digging at the ball and creating turnovers

That’s not what he or the staff thought at all. They clearly went after portal guards which indicated they realized the team wasn’t “fine to roll”.

There is a lot to complain about but I don’t agree with the narrative that the staff was so f’ng stupid that they thought we didn’t need guards. Now, did they fail in getting guards, was their search perhaps too tight, did they think they had a guy or 2 that they lost???? Absolutely.

I'm not sure what our offensive gameplan was going into tonight.  We should have known that we weren't going to be able to finish at the rim when Edey was in there.  This was a game we needed to shoot (and hit threes).  We only shot 16 threes for the game a vast number of those was in the last 8 minutes.  Where did we think our points were going to come from?

All I'm gonna say is… he evaluated this team.. Ya he missed on player A B and C. But after C it was kinda like ghost town. I mean we played without basically 2 scholarships this year. 1 player out for season and 1 open scholarship. Could argue 3 scholarships with Banks not playing like 6 straight games. I understand you don’t just fill a scholarship just because. But a body would have been nice but that just me and I don’t get paid the money these guys make.

I agree he failed.

I disagree that they thought we were “set” and were so stupid to not even realize we needed guards/perimeter players

Who wants to really come to the IU men’s basketball train wreck?  M.W. post game press conferences are hard to listen to and offer zero hope.

Following the past philosophy as IU football .  We are young and we just have to continue to work and get better plus we miss X and Purdue is number two in the country.

As many have stated on this board… This team needs 6 new players. (Liam as one) I think we both can agree on that. But we have got to land out those 6 scholarships 3 guards atleast. (Probably 4 is a safer number) I mean it will be hard to sell kids with this season and our offense this season being displayed. But we have a ton of PT to offer. If A B and C don’t want to come he has got to cast a bigger net this off season. They need bodies, new voices and hopefully winners.

This offense doesn't seem player friendly if you are a three-point shooting off guard.  Ball dominant point guards like Hood-Schifino that can play the pick and roll seem better suited to this system.  Players and their "handlers" see that.  My guess is that is one reason we have a hard time recruiting guards.

Watched the game with a Kansas fan. When talking NET rankings, quad system….he was aware of most of it, but i had to explain to many details. Like that a quad 1 win today may not stay a quad 1 win as the season plays out. He watches plenty of hoops but just never has to worry about knowing what any of that means. Lol…fun conversation as we lose by 20.

Kansas has never been lower than a 4 seed in the tourney under Self…that’s a pretty remarkable stat.

At this point fans have to choose to believe insight from guys like Trilly, Goodman, Ant Wright or don’t. All of them have said many times (and they regularly talk to recruits, handlers, AAU coaches, etc) the guards that would have been the biggest help didn’t want to come here and compete with X and Trey.

think of it this way. You are Dingle, Ellis, Knecht, Love, Timberlake, RayJ, etc. you going where the coach says, “I have 2 seniors returners, we like you a lot and think you would be a big part of this team but no, I can’t guarantee a starting spot, you have to come in an earn it” or are you going to a team with a wide open spot and coach telling you that you are a starter?

Fans can keep saying no guards are scared of X and Trey but all the guys who know, tell you this is what happened.

Did Woody still fail or find a guy or 2 who would, yep. Did he expect one guy to show up and need another surgery, X to go down twice etc. of course not. he still owns this but the situation next year is 100% different. I would even say with Trey because everyone has now seen (including himself) that he isn’t a starter. He wants to win and like his buddy Leal, happy to be depth.

Sorry to make a long post longer but speaking of Ant Wright - really, really like his takes. That guy called everything on how this season would go before any games. Each player in detail. He was dead on when guys like Tony A, Assembly, Inside the Hall etc etc were way off. For those saying the system is a problem etc. he truly believes the system is fine and will flourish with the right guards. He was talking on it some tonight and has all season. He is also pretty plugged in and feels confident IU will have guards lining up in portal. Take it for what it’s worth.

But Timberlake barely plays at kansas why didn't he choose a school he would play at more? Plus given most use three guards we still had playing time before mm signed.
