Unfortunately, I’m convinced he will turn us down.  Unless he told his family to tell everyone he’s not coming back home anytime soon to keep the noise down?

Pope was a mid level guy and roughly equivalent to us getting Archie. Not all that hard. Looks great now but lots of people thought they settled at the time. 
 

The big names are different. Even if they don’t want to go, their agent won’t allow them to give a simple, discreet no. They’ll leak it to the press and then use that leverage to renegotiate where they are at. Then that’s it. You can’t go after another big name and say “good news, you’re our 2nd choice and number 1 just said no.” If you tried that with May after getting turned down with Steven’s then he’ll do the same and just use it to renegotiate.   
 

If you want to go for a big name, pick one and make your play. If/when you strike out you’ll be fighting everyone for whatever mid/low major guys are left. See Lville last year.

We literally watched this unfold last time and is allegedly the reason we stuck with Woody. I’d probably pass on wasting any energy on Steven’s this time around. 

Ok but I very highly doubt he'd say much more than no, and if he did, I very very highly doubt he'd say it publicly, so as I said all we can do is ask/make the offer, if he says no then ok we move on to another candidate.

We could guess. Or we could look to last time as our guide.

I would hardly call his response messy or disavowing the whole state. He understands where he wants to be and stuck with his decision while complimenting fans. He's been given an incredible opportunity and jumped on it. We can't take that personally. He loves IU still. Can't knock him for taking the position he did at Boston and we don't know all the dynamics that went into his decision.

I would expect over the next three weeks the king can probably win some games as he got a pretty easy big ten draw in the first 4 or 6 games. But come mid January it will get brutal and that will determine whether the king survives or not.

Same crap as Providence - Minnesota is getting wide-open 3s, but they can't shoot (20%). Not sure they could hit the Atlantic Ocean if they were on Daytona Beach.

We should be winning this game by 30. But our defense is terrible. Good teams in the league are gonna kill us.

It’s also not Quinn’s job to pick the basketball coach.  It’s the AD’s job.  This is organization management 101, there are probably some online courses from Kelley if you need more detail.

This is a case study in organizational failure.  Quinn ruined four seasons and counting of IUBB.

You’re telling me how it ought to be in your world, but the fact of the matter is the IU world has historically been much different. Buckner isn’t the first non-AD to assert considerable influence on the.process. By the way, not all of QBs influence related to hoops has been bad.

The king beat the worst team in the league at home by 15. Michigan state won by 18 at minnesota. Neededless to say lots of we're back on twitter. The indiana bbal twitter responses are pure comedy. You'd think we had just beaten kansas

There's a lot on Stevens but I'll leave it at this. Do I think it's likely right this moment, I don't. However once the job comes open and Dolson approaches him without all the other people that butted in last time. The odds would likely go up. There's a lot more details on Steven's I've shared before but I do believe there would be a chance if done correctly. May, I do believe he would strongly consider taking the job for several different reasons. Pearl's violations wouldn't be a problem now and Dolson was talking to him last year. It wouldn't be a problem.
