They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Not by too much. What really drives woodys kenpom down is likely the blowouts.

They’re both awful. I can’t imagine who would care which turd is stinkier.

Millers biggest problem is he is a better coach at a lower level and that’s fine.  I think the same of Crean.  They just need to get a certain type of player to play for them and that’s fine.  I think the same of Shaka Smart.  It would be dumb for him to leave Marquette.  Woodson can’t coach at any level. High or mid major or NBA.

The best coaches (or CEO, or hamburger flippers, or whatever) surround themselves with smart people, change and adapt.  There was zero reason Woodson couldn't have come to IU, learned the college game, listened to guys like Matta and Fife, adapted his offense/defense schemes, and succeeded.  Except his stupid ego, which has him where he is at -- a failed coach and a ruined player legacy.

Exactly!!!  Adding people to your staff that has different strengths as you and other team members is how you get better and improve!  What I think it was, besides his over-sized ego, was he would have gotten found out sooner his lack of basketball knowledge and coaching abilities he has.

The crazy part is if he just did the King shtick and let Matta do all the coaching it might have worked somewhat, but he couldn't even get being lazy right.

Yes, good managers know how to delegate so they could play more golf and work less hours and still look good at work because they have capable people making him look good, but he does suck at that!

Mike Woodson in the postgame presser:

”I’ve done a terrible job putting this team in position to win.”

it’s all just so sad.

Ready to turn the page as soon as possible.

He’s finally admitting he sucks!

Nah. Woodson was given around 6m in NIL to flush down the toilet this year, Miller didn't have that.

We're talking about smartest person in special ed, so it doesn't really matter.

Woodson is the worst coach in the B10 and IU history and it ain’t close.

Idk.. Woodson had the biggest NIL budget in the conference, took that $6 million, and has us tied for 12th in the conference. He’s giving Archie a run for his money.

He’s worse than Archie.  If Archie had 6 million to buy any player he wanted, I bet he would finish higher than 12th in the B10 and with Michigan State, UCLA, and Turdue games coming up, we will go lower than 12th.

Miller would've wasted the money on low talent players. He wasn't a very good evaluator of talent.

I think he evaluated hustle type of players well that worked at Dayton.  He needed players that could put up with his **** and type of style.  Same applies for Shaka who couldn’t get it to work at Texas.

Then why didn't his IU teams play with hustle?

Why is Shaka killing it at Marquette but not Texas?  Some coaches just do better at those lower levels and that’s fine.  They just can’t get the best talent to do what they want.  That’s fine.

You guys aren’t even close since you’re talking “in history.” There are guys back in the early days with winning percentages in the 20 and 30 percent range
