They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

Eight or 10 years ago, I'd have been over the moon with a Mark Few hire.

These days -- meh.

He's 62, and I feel as if we'd be back searching for another coach in 4-5 years.

I realize guys like Painter, Krzyzewski, Boeheim, Izzo, Self, etc., are unicorns these days -- but this time, I'd like to get someone with a little more staying power than we've had recently.

Just my opinion, though.

Why do we think Stevens only makes $1.5 million? NBA GMs routinely make $4 million plus, and as high as $10 millions according to this:

This suggests that elite NBA front office personnel regularly get $10 million:

Last week I asked how much NBA GM make and someone shared a link of the highest GM’s in the league and Brad wasn’t in the top 18. I’ll try to find it tomorrow. I think it was Stuhoo.

I'm not convinced Woodson finishes the season. It could get awkward. And nasty.
He's a man with a huge ego who's been scorned.  He'll take his opportunities to lob shots at people he thinks have wronged him.
Imagine the quips he makes at the post game press conferences. Give him the mic at Senior Day? Lmao no way.
It's most likely going to get ugly. He clearly thinks he can do a I will show them type of attitude by staying. He isn't going to be gracious at all. If he wins Saturday I could see him taking shots in the press conference at those he think wronged him. He thinks he is entitled to this job ever though his big ten record is 36-36.

Thanks.  Didn't mean to call you out, just confused where the numbers was coming from.

I don’t think it’s about the money for Brad.

I don’t know because everything I hear is very positive but it’s all from our side. I also thought we had him last time so trying to stay calm

I appreciate the positioning here. The absolutes that can be posted are a bit much. This outlines optimism with the understanding that nothing is done until the ink dries.

Here's why I put some stock into their Hot Board. Jeff isn't perfect but he works extremely hard. Woodson's been on the hot seat since this time last year. These names have been probably floating around since last spring. One thing I liked about IU's portal "haul": if it failed (like it has) it gets Woodson out.

Why does Woodson need a body guard?

QB overruled Dolson to hire him. QB overruled Dolson again last offseason when Dolson was ready to move on.  Woodson had BoT protection and $6mm this year to build a roster.

Thats all gone now. Dolson can finally do his job.

Because he’s tired of making 1.5 million when he could be making 10 million in Bloomington

If Stevens comes here also it comes with exposure. He would be the face of the Big 10 especially when Izzo leaves. Big 10 network, cbs, fox does everything to schedule as many IU games as possible. Peacock would be a thing of the past.

Also, $10 million living in Bloomington goes further than $10 million in Boston (if he was making that much money right now--which we know he is not).
