Well, Goode must not have participated in those same games you have witnessed and so astutely mentally noted the lack of a hand shake line on the occasion that such an accused breach of etiquette becomes a topic of debate.

But you don't mind how she talks to everyone else like were children and don't understand the process. Don't mind that THE PROCESS hasn't worked in many years.

He might not be fired till March 11 which is 6 weeks from today. But I believe the process has started. Him being fired is the middle of the process to me.

But I'm going to save this to see if anything happens before 6 weeks from today

THE PROCESS... is stupid ;(

Here is my non insider prediction. The top decision makers have probably had several talks on what to do. I am guessing they thought firing a guy who still has a chance to turn the season around would be bad. They probably hate the situation they are in and are just trying to ride this out as long as they can. I bet if purdue and wisconsin are blowout losses they may move on. If the games are close they will stick with woodson. I still think a fire retire scenario is most likely before we play our last conference game

the season effing started about the time of the Nebraska blowout loss so what is he waiting for?

You are so gracious. Knew we were toast when we were down by 30 to a brand new Louisville coach and roster before the end of November lol.

I agree. Malik, Rice, and Tucker would be the only others I'd even be willing to have convos with.. the others would be brought into my office to be told "we thank you for your time at IU, can we help you find a new school?"

MAYBEEE Kanaan.

Not Mgbako... he'd be the first I'd tell to take a hike.

Fully agree on Mgbako, you either add to the culture or you take away from it, and it's pretty clear where he falls on that ledger. And along those lines, I would want Cupps back - everything I've heard is that he goes hard all the time at practice.

Genuinely curious, why you think you might want Kanaan back? I don't know what he's making in NIL but I bet it's 500k+. I think if he wanted to come back, it would have to be for significantly less. If he wants to test the market, go for it.

@KathywithaC - Is the athletic department working with the men's basketball program on how to handle negative fan reactions, like chants of "Fire Wiodson"?

Surely the powers that be are aware of the fan displeasure, how it's manifesting itself, and the negative impact it has on the program.

I'm not surprised to learn a change will not be made during the season, and based on how quickly things move after the season one must surmise that the athletic department, the president, board, donors and other stakeholders are already in conversations about how to move forward in March.

Would you say this is accurate? Nothing official being done, but conversations among this group and research being conducted now to move quickly when it's time to be official.

Fire Woodson should be the least of their concerns.  Wait until Michigan and PU blow our doors off, the fans start yelling at him, he flips them the bird on his way out of SSAH to his press conference where he makes everything about race, and the fans start the racial epithets.  It’s coming.  Cathy is worried about optics.  She’s going to get the worst optics possible.

Can you please drop the race angle man… you’ve made those opinions clear…

Just because he's got a little wiggle to his game. By no means am I going to lose sleep if KC doesn't wanna come back. $$$ amounts don't mean a lot to.me because I'm not the one that's gotta make it work/I don't actually know what they're getting paid.

Are you basing that off what you read on the internet from “insiders” or you have first hand knowledge of this yourself? :)

Optics and past indicators…

I thought so too, but now I'm not so sure. If Woodson is intent to hold on to the bitter end, he wouldn't want to retire while there was still a chance that he could go on a run in March. Regardless of how badly the next six weeks go, I'm sure he'll think he can win the B1G tournament and then make a final four run.

Meanwhile, if I'm Woodson, I'd be skeptical that the department wouldn't let me "retire" once the season is over in order to avoid having to fire a program legend. And he's probably right.

So I'm not sure what motivation he'd have to preemptively announce his retirement before he absolutely has to.

Sampson was given the option to resign in exchange that he wouldn't later sue the university and Davis was given the option to resign cordially or be fired at the end of the season...the same option that likely exists for Woodson.

Knight and Sampson were fired/forced to resign due extenuating circumstances while Davis, Crean, and Archie were allowed to coach until the end of the season. Not sure why you'd think it'd be any different for Woodson unless extenuating circumstances permit otherwise.... which obviously don't exist. Losing a bunch of games isn't a for-cause termination like violating a zero tolerance policy or committing several level 1 NCAA violations.

Pretty straightforward.

Well the next coach's contract better say: "losing to Purdue by 20+ is cause for termination."  :)

Archie had a losing record his last year....

Yep.  Played the 4th toughest overall schedule.  2-12 in Q1 games,  6-2 in Q2 games.  Didn’t have the luxury of playing home games with a crowd.  17 games against the top 50.   Definitely needed to go but thats a tough way to out
