johnsoniu Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Self left Illinois after 3 seasons. Huggy Bear bolted K State after 1 season to go home to West Virginia. It’s not out of the realm that May could be had. That said, I don’t think he comes because the deep seated rot in this program makes it less appealing by the day. Hopefully Witten and Dolson can convince someone with some coaching chops that things are changing on the administration side. cybergates and MemphisHoosier 2

However, the reason I don't think he comes is because Michigan is a big, big-time program with the best of everything and not the kind of place that a successful coach in good standing leaves after one year. However, Dusty May knows IU and Dolson really well and knows that he'd be great at IU. And as if that's not enough, he sees from Cig and Moren that the current administration, budgets, and alumni network will be incredibly supportive of a successful, squared-away head coach. Hell, he's an IU alum and IU football fan. Pretty sure he's been inhaling all of the football awesomeness and rooting like hell for the football Hoosiers just like the rest of us crazies, and seeing the investment and support that the administration is giving football. johnsoniu, WeeDerkaNaut, cybergates and 1 other 4

Do you also think we're gonna be competing for the B1G title and a Final Four this year? Because otherwise... No.

Speaking of UCLA, would Cronin be poachable? Heard was very upset at their lack of NIL $. Midwest ties, still young, good coach. Would be a very safe hire if he had interest. Redcamaro 1

Did he even attempt to determine if they would be good fits? Not likely. Nothing was really that impressive about it given how much money he had. But the twitter cult crowded him a recruiting king. He’s not slipping into the tournament because he has no quality wins and he will be lucky to go 10-10 in the B10 and I think he will lose every road game because he’s convinced his players that it’s hard to win in the road. In order to win in the road in the B10, you have to have focus, discipline and leadership and we have none of that. Their focus is spending time gambling and going to bars and their leadership just wants to play golf, smoke cigars and drink wine so the players take on the personality of their coach tkbbn, Home Jersey, AZ Hoosier and 1 other 4

Another problem with Woodson is that he treats this like it's the NBA. it's widely known that his assistants do all the recruiting for him and are the ones that put in the work to get them on campus. Of course, NIL was a big player this year. It's like free agency. Woodson has these player recruited and signed for him, and his main job is coaching...well there's a lot more than coaching in the college world. I believe it's another reason why our team can be so lazy or lackadaisical -- they take it from Woodson...and let's be honest, Woodson isn't busting his @$$ out there.. tkbbn 1

The question is if this was his last year why in the world did they give him 6 million? There were stories at the time that Buckner got the Cooks and the Simons to commit to a large NIL bucket prop Woodson up to allow him to "prove" that he brought IU back ... and that he would then "ride off into the sunset" as the guy who did, in fact, bring IU back ... remember he was a "bridge" coach whose purpose was to unite the fan base (old and new) and restore the shine to the program ... of course, we are seeing how well that played out.
