Yep why are stuck with him for probably at least two more years. He is full of himself and is probably clueless how pissed people are.

He's gotta know... just think that he doesn't care...

What worries me is when I'm told that Woodson is going to get the chance to get us back on track. To me that suggests that the administration thinks we were on track the last two seasons.

We had a $5.3 million surplus.  That is all that matters.  They are going to keep rolling these BS results out until the money starts to dry up.

They realize we underachieved both seasons and any success was almost all Trayce?  Right?  Tell me they aren't this stupid.

I thought they put that out to point towards a change. But it seems you are more correct than I thought. As long there is money rolling in keep everything the same.

If I was AD I wouldn't give him another year unless he had an actionable plan with changes that are needed. That should include hiring an assistant to teach an offense if he can't make the needed changes.

Good coaches hire assistants to handle weak points in their game. Look at Beilen when he hired an assistant to run his defense. Crean could have benefited from that as well. But I get it many coaches can't do it because their ego is too big.

If he can't show or agree to changes you cut the cord.

Does anyone think that Woodson coaches until the time he’s 70? Because I see a guy who barely has the energy to do the job now at 65, almost 66. He’s putting in horrible effort on the recruiting end of things. He’s not going to suddenly put in more effort as he gets even older. So, why would we bring him back for another year? At most he’s got what, 2-3 more seasons in him? Giving him the chance to get us “back on track” also gives him the chance to screw things up even more. I see little benefit to giving that chance to a coach who will be on his way out in a few years anyway.

I don’t think Dusty May is the guy, but if you’re the AD and you do, you have to fire Woodson now before OSU scoops him up.

I wonder if Purdue wins the tourney this year (I know, I vomited in my mouth just typing that), would that give IU the kick in the pants needed to try and turn our basketball program around?

This has always been the case since I left IU as an undergrad.  That's why I left for UNC and Duke.

If they care more about just keeping the money coming in and the surplus then on court results, no.

Let's say that Dolson has some awareness that we lose out on many major in state recruits because of Woody's play style.
And schools like Ohio State start going after Dusty. I would think he would  have to have a talk with Woody about retirement or has a serious talk about actionable changes.
Look firing a coach after 3 years generally isn't a good thing. But context matters. This is a guy who came as a short term hire. He was supposed to turn things around quickly and stabilize things.  He hasn't, and if you have a guy who can fix things you move now.
You got to stop the bleeding before it gets worse.
Except in his mind I don't think he believes hei a short term hire that was just how it was presented.

I have explained my thoughts on that at length. Not going to keep doing so.

May is Phil Jackson - he will win the press conference, fans will be excited until year 4 when he is on hot seat.

Well hot seat in year 4 is better than:

Crean on the hot seat in his *2nd*/*3rd* year in 2013 (assuming you remove the first couple of years).

Archie on the hot seat in his second year after losing 12 of 13

Woodson on the hot seat in year 3 after bottoming out on KenPom / Torvik

The common theme... Fans are quick to spot when something isn't a good fit.... RIP THE BANDAID OFF

Awesome - you can make data say whatever you want. Been told that on here many times when pointing out how Cupps is beyond awful.

Let me know when Essigian is going to play. Could use him this weekend since he was 100% guaranteed to be transferring to IU according to you.

Nice deflection. Hope you didn't hurt yourself with that move...

Yes if it's up to him he won't go anywhere. He making a ton of money and has the full support of the admins. And I think in his mind he thinks he is beloved by all the fans. But I don't think he I nearly as loved as he thinks he is. When you look up you tube videos you look up things like the title years not mike Woodson he didn't win anything to speak of. Good player but no titles so I doubt people are searching for videos of him

Be honest. If you guys had a time machine to go back to your younger self and change your fandom, would you?  Just knowing what I know about the type of administration we have and have had I'm 50/50.  I do love the campus though and friends I made but the sports experience oooof.

This was probably already posted but long thread already.  Since we are posting articles and making hiring decisions based on gut. Give me this guy over May all day. (would still rather wait)

He is a little of May, little Stevens, little Self and a little bit of boot strap.

There you go again. Wait for what? Brad Stevens? Billy Donovan? Jay Wright?

For the record, what I said regarding Essigian was that he would 100% transfer to IU if he were offered a scholarship from our staff. There was nothing off about that statement.

Wait for a 66 year old with so much ego he refers to himself in 3rd person to realize 'wait, I screwed up so I should change.

My advice, don't hold your breath waiting.
