Soon to RETIRE Coach Woodson Thread

Both Few and Pearl's ages are a big drawback for me.I totally agree about Stevens and May.It would be nice to have a successful coach for 15 or 20 years for stability and not going through this madness again for a while.

If Few or Pearl wins like I think they would then the program would be in good shape for about 10 years; that'd be an improvement over what we've had recently.

Stevens would be my number 1 choice. I'm not as sold on May.

Granted I think the discussion is moot. I'm skeptical the next coach is any of those 4.

I hope IU can do better than this list.  Never heard of the site, but talk about underwhelming "replacements."

Spoiler alert:

Mick Cronin, John Groce, Steve Alford, Richard Pitino, and Ben McCollum are the list.  Surely IU hasn't fallen this far.  Side note:  I Googled "Mike Woodson replacement" and that is how I found this link.  Barf!!

I can’t waste my time reading a freaking article. I’m still 10 pages behind.

My check with Pearl is that his son is the coach in waiting at Auburn. I really can’t see Auburn honoring that agreement if Bruce bolts for Btown. I just don’t. And I’m doubtful that Dolson would consider such an arrangement.

As a coach, I’d love to have Bruce’s Pearl, I just see that great big roadblock.

The coach in waiting thing is part of why I put Pearl below Few.

Like I said, I think it's moot though; any of those names would surprise me.

The whole contemplating retiring thing is to try and make this look like he is going out on his own terms. If he wants to coach the rest of the season then he will. Now his desires may change after Saturday. And for my list of candidates:

1. Stevens (not gonna happen)

2. Beard

3. Pearl

4. Few

5. S. Drew

6. Calhoun

Woody finishing this mess of a season is so disappointing.

I guess we can get more locker room fights between players and coaches that result is ZERO extra fire on the court.

Disgusting basketball.

This type of **** is why he shouldn’t complete the season. Let Hunter finish it out and maybe the team will respect him and possibly make some resemblance of a run.

Good list but I would throw in Dusty too. Anyone of those coaches (sans Calhoun) is a fantastic upgrade and will have us title contenders.

I can't imagine he will end up coaching out the rest of the season. It makes it especially difficult if he is disgruntled. I just can't imagine letting a disgruntled employee continue working for the organization once it's been decided by the employer they aren't coming back. (I won't say fired to spare everyone an additional argument about the definition of that word again). I hope that leadership does the right thing today and ensures that he has coached his last game.

So many big time contracts are legal scams.  This one for failure.  Besides all the facilities, support, NIL money…..$8,000,000 reward for failure…and it goes on.. These are the best kind of gigs for those individuals who can get one.

I think we need to take some time contemplating Cronin....midwestern guy.....don't see any downside to his record...just as good if not better than some of the "not-stevens" candidates that we are throwing around....AND, more importantly, hes not at the top of the list and will come out of nowhere...like we got hit with Woody out of nowhere and nobody was talking about him on THIS board.

Ok, with that being said, my list is as follows:

1) Stevens (fantasy)

2) May

3) Beard

4) Cronin

5) McCollum

6) Few

I believe Cronin has a $16 million buyout.
