Soon to RETIRE Coach Woodson Thread

Anyone living in a world that Woodson gets canned in the middle of the season is completely delusional.  I would love to see it happen, but there is no way in the world it happens.  We are going to have to endure this season and then hope Dolson pulls the trigger come the spring.   They are 8-3 right now and 1-1 in the Big 10.  I get all 3 losses were bad, but there is no world right now where that calls for his firing.  Going to have to let things play out.

Yea. It's pretty clear he is not the guy, but they are not firing a coach in December at 8-3. We will muddle through the season, beat some teams at home, finish middle of the pack Big Ten and on the NCAA bubble. And then hopefully a rational choice is made after the season.

Just out of curiosity, is he actually suggesting it's something that wouldn't be under the purview of head coach to correct?

Who the hell knows.  Sounds like it would take somebody with "balls" to push back on the university.  References Cig's demands for university support for football.  I think he's full of chit and just deflecting Woodson's piss poor performance.

Let this sink in.

Woodson's career
Quadrant 1
Home games against teams ranked 1–30, neutral games against teams ranked 1–50, and away games against teams ranked 1–75

Quadrant 1 14-31 record   14 and freaking 31!

Quadrant 2
Home games against teams ranked 31–75, neutral games against teams ranked 51–100, and away games against teams ranked 76–135

Quadrant 2 18- 10 record  slightly better chance than not he beats a top 75 team

Quadrant 3
Home games against teams ranked 76–160, neutral games against teams ranked 101–200, and away games against teams ranked 136–240

Quadrant 3 17-2 record  Almost never loses to teams ranked near 200

Quadrant 4
Home games against teams ranked 161–353, neutral games against teams ranked 201–353, and away games against teams ranked 241–353

Quadrant 4 22-0 record    put money on Cream and Crimson vs bottom 25o teams

Really interesting data Doc. Now do Quadrant 1 wins without TJD in the lineup lmao bet that gets interesting.

AH1971 is the most annoying poster ever in my opinion. He acted like he had it all figured out and the rest of us was wrong.

Ever? You must be new here. NGW comes to mind as someone even worse and there have been a few others.

This. The time to let somebody go is when you realize they aren’t the guy.  If you weren’t the person for your job at work. Would they arbitrarily wait till March to fire you. Hell no.

But this is IU.  We learn the coach isn’t the guy and then wait another 2-3 years before the firing.  It’s the Indiana way.

TJD carried MW and was one of the best players in IU history!  Should have been drafted much higher than he was!  I would bet the winning percentage goes way way down

I’m not sure Woodson would’ve seen year 3 had Trayce left when Archie was fired.

He 100% would have seen year 3. He could've been winless the first 2 years and short some of scandal year 3 would be guaranteed.

Don’t blame any of this on Pam Whitten.  One high profile major athletic hire. = Cignetti.  Put Pam Whitten in charge of hiring next IU basketball coach.

She has been an excellent representative in appearances at many IU athletic events.

Reason to move now rather then end of season is to hopefully give someone a chance with these guys to change it up. I don't believe anything positive can be gained staying in this toxic situation we are in currently. We are bleeding off the diehard fans now! who are these true fans I would love to know?

So I actually somewhat agree with Tyme.  There is a deeper issue than just Woodson.  There is an issue in the administration with the people who placed him in his position.  If we believe that Dolson was forced to accept Woodson by these people, I think letting this season bottom out may be the best course of action.  It would help to neuter the people who installed Woodson when it comes to picking the next guy.  "You know what?" everyone else thinks, "We let Dolson do his job unencumbered with football and we ended up in the CFP.  Maybe you guys sit this one out and let him do what we pay him to do."  I don't know if that happens if this season is saved.  You need Buckner and Ferguson and the money guys sidelined a bit.

Dolson has given himself a ton of leverage and power with the Cignetti hire. If donors have to choose between Woody and Dolson - the answer is simple - Woody needs to go.

Listen, Woody is really sucking….but I don’t think this is going to be a foregone conclusion.  As long as Woody has Buckner backing him….it could be very tough to move on.

Again, force Buckner to sit in the front row until this is fixed.
