They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

That's fair, do we really think we can pull Stevens from his current spot in Boston though? That just seems like a tough sell considering. I know certain people have maintained contact with him so maybe his passion will pull him here, least we can do it put the offer on the table. Worst he can say is no. And I know May loves IU but how realistic is it for him to leave Michigan after only one year? Pearl is a good coach, so pardon my ignorance but are the violations committed at Tennessee not violations anymore? Or are we just willing to take that risk considering his W/L record? I know I have a lot questions, it's just the current situation makes me ask them :P

There's a lot on Stevens but I'll leave it at this. Do I think it's likely right this moment, I don't. However once the job comes open and Dolson approaches him without all the other people that butted in last time. The odds would likely go up. There's a lot more details on Steven's I've shared before but I do believe there would be a chance if done correctly. May, I do believe he would strongly consider taking the job for several different reasons. Pearl's violations wouldn't be a problem now and Dolson was talking to him last year. It wouldn't be a problem.

Unfortunately, I’m convinced he will turn us down.  Unless he told his family to tell everyone he’s not coming back home anytime soon to keep the noise down?

It’s a crying shame he’s coaching in the B1G and not at Indiana.

Yeah, Idk but I've heard some things that make me think he would from people that would likely know.

Same crap as Providence - Minnesota is getting wide-open 3s, but they can't shoot (20%). Not sure they could hit the Atlantic Ocean if they were on Daytona Beach.

We should be winning this game by 30. But our defense is terrible. Good teams in the league are gonna kill us.

Kinda, we mostly took the 3 point shots away from them. They only shot 11. I don’t like Woodson either but you gotta tell the whole story lol

Direct quote from his immediate family:

”There’s no chance he leaves Michigan.  He loves it there.”

I would love to eat crow on this, but that was two weeks ago.  5 years down the road… maybe another story?

Wouldn't expect them to say anything else right now. You don't talk about leaving any place until you actually do it.

No, the victory came at a cost for both QB and his BFF.

Yeah.  The SOB meddled thinking he could get his buddy the job.  So the AD gave him the middle finger and hired someone else.  He and his buddy got butt hurt and here we are.  QB is a cancer on IU basketball.

Think she is talking about Crean.

Well as somebody else said that was only because he tried hard as hell to get Woodson the job. Just cause he failed doesn’t change the motives. But I also call BS Crean was a complete lame duck

You’re telling me how it ought to be in your world, but the fact of the matter is the IU world has historically been much different. Buckner isn’t the first non-AD to assert considerable influence on the.process. By the way, not all of QBs influence related to hoops has been bad.

It's not my world, it's the world of successful organizations.

Here is another issue: how do you quantify whatever it is Quinn did that is supposedly good?  Point us to the increased number of wins, conference titles, or tournament runs.

I don't get why you feel compelled to defend Quinn.  So many people put Quinn, Woody, and others ahead of the program and I don't understand why.  It's a shame.

I think it's less trying to defend Buckner and Woodson and more trying to explain how things worn at IU. Which when you consider the last 25 years then the way IU does things needs to be examined, it's not been good.

Agree on this point.  We have always had basic issues managing the bball program, from the search committee that interviewed no one and hired MD, to Herbert/trustees pushing Kelvin, and of course Quinn.  Will we ever learn?

The king beat the worst team in the league at home by 15. Michigan state won by 18 at minnesota. Neededless to say lots of we're back on twitter. The indiana bbal twitter responses are pure comedy. You'd think we had just beaten kansas

I do not even bother with that noise. Woody does not get extra credit for doing what he and this team are paid 10 Million to do. Minnesota is a mid major roster if not worse. Even when they aren't, IU basketball should expect double digit wins at home against Minnesota. That team may struggle to win 3 games (if that) in the B1G. This win does not move the needle at all, it is a 15 point Q4 win at home, it was a must have not an accomplishment. Anyone arguing otherwise is a clown, and when the two big lineup is not working against a team with a pulse we will not have the luxury of waiting 8 minutes to make a change. The smaller lineup went on a 12-1 run and we never really looked back. Maybe Woody will adjust quicker versus better competition, but history says he is pretty stubborn about his lineups. Sorry for the rant, the shills shilling for stuff IU basketball should be expected to do is so annoying to me lol

It cost the AD, too. There weren’t any winners in that deal.
