If there is no formal announcement today by 6pm I’m going to force myself to assume that just means he’s getting removed immediately and there will be a memo sent to media like 90 minutes before tip off tomorrow. Yes I am going through the stages of grief

Yea,

Since Dusty will be “in the Hall” tomorrow I’m very surprised we haven’t heard anything.
The administration must know that’s it’s going to be fugly in the Hall Saturday without an announcement stating Woody is gone (either immediately or at the end of the season).

For the good of the program pull the friggin trigger!!!

I see it different. We wanted dusty but let's face it he was a risk. Michigan offered a conservative deal knowing they will have the opportunity to just up his deal if he is successful. I think they will do that soon but may wait to see what happens in big tournament? Dusty knew Michigan would be a good gig if he can succeed and had confidence he could knowing the big money will come and a better deal and bigger buyout. That has been my take and it makes sense to me. Having a small buyout hoping iu opens seems like a huge gamble. If we get him I am OK with it but him and iu would be taking a gigantic risk imo. I wouldn't leave a job that I have a real shot at succeeding to leave and go to a major crap shoot like iu is currently. I know he could do good here but it's not automatic

Fair point.  I didn’t see it that way.

I also remember reading that allegedly, Dolson had Pearl and May basically lined up last offseason before QB intervened (again).  So that probably biased my line of thinking.

I suppose time will tell.

Just out of curiosity, I googled the name of the current owner of Cook Group. He's Carl Cook, son of the late Bill Cook. And Carl Cook is a Purdue grad (engineering) and earned his MBA from Iowa. If he wanted to get his MBA from IU, he could've done it easily but somehow chose Iowa. So a Purdue grad is one of IU's biggest donors. Thought it was interesting.

Super nice guy but Kathy knows more about sports than Carl does. He loved Woodson last season. Had a buddy that went to a game with him last season. We were down 16 and he turned to my friend and said this is fun isn't it? My buddy just put his head down.

Idk I kinda envy people with that level of gleeful ignorance.

Unless I'm missing something and that guy is making decisions? I know the company is involved but is Carl?

Well, not making any kind of solid announcement (or even subtley sending word through one of their preferred media outlets) is an ...uh...interesting decision on the part of Dolson.

I’m guessing it’s not up to Dolson how to announce it.  Dolson basically didn’t have anything to do with Woodson and still doesn’t.   It’s all Woodsons body guards.

Once this experiment is over, Dolson will (should) be able to act in his capacity as AD.

He was a great teacher and one of my favorite classes at IU. I don't think he hated sports, I think he hated that Knight was basically able to do whatever he liked without repercussions. He also wrote a book how 99% of athletic departments lost money for schools.

If the professor saw Woody the King of IU, he could've changed his opinion. RMK was a monster, but at least he won 3 championships and gave so much joy and happiness to the fanbase. So I'd say in the grand scheme of things, the cost and benefit kind of balanced. But the case of Woody the King is all costs ($hit load of costs) and almost no benefit. ROI is so poor in this case.

I don't think he is making any decisions. I think Pete is making the majority of the decisions. But I haven't been around there for a few years. My FIL retired from there and was very high up with these people.

You can’t say the b word. Now I have to kick you out of the store.

I spent a summer working at a music store in Bloomington. We sold pipes and stuff (this was before vaping). People would come in and say something like, "I'll take that bong." I'd respond with, "This water pipe? No problem, that'll be $xxx." Some were too stupid to get it and would argue that it's a bong so I'd have to make them leave.
