Fire (or Force 'Contemplated Retirement') Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

Bozich also suggested that Woody is so aloof and out of touch that he probably doesn’t have a clue the situation he is in.  Likely doesn’t think his seat is even warm and that’s he’s doing a good job.

This is going to be an extremely ugly breakup and it didn’t have to be.

Had to chuckle when I saw people tossing names around on an IU basketball FB page.

One guy said: "Just let Dolson do his job."

I have no doubt Dolson will do his very best. I also have no doubt that Dolson doesn't give a rat's a$$ what anybody on a free fan page thinks.

I also think speculating about our next coach is just kinda ... fun. In a sense, that's what fan pages are all about.

Lighten up, folks, and enjoy the ride. We'll have a new coach in place by next season, and he can't be any worse that Woody. What fun is a coaching search if we can't throw around our unsolicited advice!

I remember watching this site eight or so years ago on a Saturday afternoon when page after page after page had Billy Donovan taking the job and Mrs. Billy Donovan house searching in Bloomington.

Now, that was fun!

I'm not particularly high on McCullom at present, but I do think the tempo criticism may be a bit unfair. He's playing a roster filled with DII transfers. He has to shorten the game to adjust for the talent disparity. You would need to ask him how he expects to adjust his system moving forward to decide how viable he would be at a place like IU.

Does last nights crap show increase the chance of him being out before the season ends, or do you think they’ll just let him ride out the rest of the season to soak in the losses? After last nights performance I can’t decide whether I hope he coaches the Michigan and get embarrassed, or if there’d be no way the administration risks having him deal with the mayhem.

My guess is, and remember, it's a guess, he will be the coach until we have someone lined up. I hope I'm wrong but don't see us letting him go and watch other candidates sign extensions before we're allowed to interview them

Will Wade isn't a realistic candidate so I don't believe you. Just because your fantasy is different than others' fantasies doesn't make your fantasy realistic.

I have lots of fantasies that I wish were realistic. BS Is a lot lower on that list.

Chris Beard all day. 1A with Steven's. I me come on. Did anyone even question what it was she said beforehand?

Are you seriously asking if what she said deserved a beating? Or for him to even raise hands to her?

Something to think about, WHEN Woodson is done, what happens to Zrno, and Sisley. I would be very interested to see if you see some decommitments or if they stay firmly committed, then I would like to believe a plan had been in place long enough for Zrno to choose IU for that reason.

Please let me know your thoughts as next year could be insanely fun with a 9-3+ Football team and an IU Basketball team with a new house and a matchup against UK in Lexington.

I believe Sisley and some people have been in touch about what would happen if/when Woodson is not back.

I'm inclined to agree here.  There's a reason that the military academies in football run an option offense.  It helps close the competitive gap against more talented and athletic opponents they face.  McColloum could be using the same mindset with Drake but could be flexible to change with a different program.

Yea.  These are some of the big questions we need Scott to ask and he needs to get the judgement call right.

There seems to be a whole lot of nothing going on

That is true because I just went to Sam's for the family on my lunch break and saw Armond Hill there buying some water and some chips. He wasn't dressed in any IU gear, which I understood. I just asked him if he was doing ok and if it was a late night getting in. He gave me a thumbs-up and went on.

That WOULD be the smart thing to do. Now, whether they actually follow that train of thought….

I promise you that every one that is around the program knows that Beard wants the job. He has done everything possible to let IU know he is interested, other than holding up a hire me sign on the sideline

well f*** it... just hire him

I'm to the point I really don't know care who the next coach is as long as they bring winning back to the program. Whether it's Pearl, Stevens, Beard, May, Donovan, McCollum, etc..I don't care. Just freaking win. I invested way too much in 2017 and in 2021. With both hires, the program just got worse. It can absolutely get worse than Woodson. I'm not in the mood to do that again in 2025 (just like Presidential elections and olympics..IU hiring a new coach happens every 4 years).

It makes me sad that I can't root for this team. I love Indiana basketball and March Madness. Just not excited this year. I blame Woodson most of all, but honestly the players, coaches, and other support staff can all go too. It was incredibly arrogant what happened at the Senior Night last year. That should've been a huge red flag for me that this team, no matter the additions, would be crap. "True Fans" "we're running it back" " you need to Chill"...comments made by the head coach and players on a team that missed the NCAA tournament. I remember as a kid how big of a deal it was that the 2004 team missed the tournament for the first time in almost 20 years. Now it's okay for that to happen.

Needs to be a complete restart to the program. I trust that a guy that was able to help turn IU football into a force (Dolson) can turn Indiana Basketball into the power that they once were. There is NO REASON Indiana cannot be in the discussion for Big Ten Championships and compete for National Championships.

I know.  He’s the absolute perfect hire but for the one incident.  Just literally checks every box.

Bozich and Coyle both agreed that the hire absolutely has to be an alpha male.  Talked about how Dusty was likely a bad fit due to that.  I really worry Dolson will hire Dusty.  That would be a tragic mistake imo.
