Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Well I'm also guessing Woodson had his boys do a big trash job on fife to make him toxic. He had given lots of stuff to media we were told that was put out after he left. Two sides to every story. Hopefully fife tells his one day. Just saying I hardly doubt it was all fife Woodson probably didn't want to hear anything from him. Plus fife turned his favorite channel and that can't stand. He is the king after all.

Now I’m just guessing but the way things have unfolded since Fife left, Woodson wanted to use NIL money to primarily recruit transfer portal and Fife wanted to use it for recruiting high school players, well we seen who won!  Lol

I think that was part of it and he turned cnn off to fox and and it pissed Woodson off. Who knows but the king reins and with an iron fist. But the real point is I get he wanted his own guys. It was a disaster from the start. It was never ever going to work. If it really was dolsons idea to hire fife and Matta I do question him it means he knew Woodson was not ready for college ball. You would think he would eat up Mattas advice.

It's kind of funny that you say "[Woodson] wanted his own guys", but he was too freaking lazy or ignorant to hire anybody and just kept Archie's guys. Dolson brought in Fife and Matta. AFAIK, the only guy Woodson brought on was sleepy Armond Hill.

Not sure if Woodson brought in Rosemond or not.

Bringing in Yasir is the reason Woodson didn’t retain Mike Roberts.  In his short time with Woodson, Roberts was trying to convince Woody to recruit Braden Smith because he was “the best guard in Indiana.”

Roberts was right.

It's all Big Ten games from here on out.  Time for Woodson to prove that he can coach and not just buy a talented roster through free agency.  Our roster is probably top 2 in the Big Ten.  Anything less than a top 4 finish in the Big Ten and a Sweet 16 with this roster will be inexcusable.  As an IU fan this year, every win will make me happy, and every loss should mean that we are one step closer to a new coach which would also make me happy.

If I remember correctly, Woodson brought in Rosemond.  Woodson didn't know Rosemond, but he was suggested by World Wide Wes.

Woodson would have squandered the talent anyway, so it's kind of a "push". *sigh*

Next coach needs to clean house, right down to Clif Marshall. Woodson kept Marshall and some assistants that Miller had, don't make that mistake again.

Any real coach would start anew…Woody=Lazy. Hell only work he did when he was hired was fill out his W-4 and lit a stogie.

It's very sad to say, but I'm happy for kids that avoid coming to Woody's IU.  They're very likely better off.  It's a hard truth.

Yes it is but it is the current state of the program.  I am not made because those players decided to go elsewhere, I am mad at the University for putting the lazy a-hole as our head coach and I am mad at him for not putting in the required work.  He didn’t even do the bare minimum!  But I guess he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank

Everyone knows the outcome of the rest of the season.  We be around .500 then we hit a slide and mid February then Woodson will get into their a** and start coaching and we’ll win 4-6 or 6-8 games to climb close or at .500.  Same old sh*t different day!!!

He hasn't ever gotten into them. The first 2 seasons, it was TJD's leadership which helped right the ship. Players only meetings and such. Last year it was simply weak, beatable teams on the schedule at the end of the season.

FWIW, his legacy as a lazy, incompetent parasite will follow him to his grave.

Yep he never won a title his legacy is one of underachieving as a player(man crazy how not winning a title was underachieving for us in one era) and complete and utter failure as a coach.

I listened to the Assembly Call post-game Winthrop podcast.

This won’t surprise anyone but the two coaches (Jarod Morris wasn’t on the show) went over a number of small details that  don’t show up in the box score (where a pass is delivered, being ready to take a shot, a big man sealing off his guy so the guard can take it to the rim, positioning, defensive posture, hustling back on D, etc etc). Literally none of those aspects of the game show up in the box score but they are winning plays and the podcasters repeatedly said doing those things is a sign of good coaching but made it clear we usually don’t do those things.
They also pointed out that Hatton, who has been coached at Bellarmine, is one of the few guys on the team that does indeed do many of the little things. Is it a coincidence that Hatton does those things and was coached by the Bellarmine guy for multiple years?  I think not. The podcast was really an indictment of Woody without explicitly using those words.

EDIT: one comment they made, which made me both chuckle and sad, was that we sometimes look like a travel team that was hastily put together to play in a tourney. No connection between the players, etc etc.

When the season started Matt Torvik had IU going 11-9 in the conference.

In his updated analytics (ie after our actual “performances”) he now has IU going 8-12 in the conference. I think 8-12 is our ceiling and that we will be in the 6-14 to 8-12 range, we will miss the tourney and any remaining “grey area in regards to the administration keeping Woody” will be erased.
