Yeah but those guys sitting in the dungeon drinkig and smoking with a king are in awe of a living legend. If the king does leave I'm guessing athletic director quinn will make sure he gets double whatever the buyout it for doing his job and leaving the program in a terrific spot.

You know, he can bank $20M for "doin' his job" at Indiana... but he cannot control/manage what people think about who he is and what he stands for. Let Woodson go on laughing on his way to the bank, but deep down, he has to know what an abject failure he's been as Indiana's coach. He has to know how large his failure has been... and no amount of money can soothe the deep-down bruise to his ego...

Zero respect...

Honestly, I don’t think he cares!  He’s taking his and Quinn is getting his, and they are running away leaving IU in shambles

Quinn may make him leave but the buyout check will be massive.

We know the buyout, it's the remainder of his contract, which is about $8.4M.  We only have to pay $1M per year until it's paid off, so it's not a big cash flow hit in any one year.

I remember when Davis was fired that Herbert insisted we pay him more than we were required to.  Has anyone school ever paid a coach they were firing more than the contract required?  I thought UK actually stiffed BillyG because the moron forgot to sign his contract.

But he’s a better coach than Woodson but I think it’s more the lack of game preparation from us!

Yup, Pikiell will look down towards the IU bench and say, "I was worried about trying to win in hallowed Assembly Hall, then when I saw Mike Woodson was the coach; I was no longer worried"...

He’s going to need a lengthy midday nap if he’s scheduled to speak at 9:00pm.

That's not opinion that's fact. Knight was beyond top tier as a coach. He knew ball like no other. As I have stated before, Piss Poor Planning Provides Piss Poor Performance. Knight knew that, Woody somehow didn't pick up on it or anything else from Knight and doesn't have a clue.

I don’t remember that but it sounds like something IU would do. I can see something similar happening with Woody.

Yep we already don’t fire them when they should be fired because that would be mean.  Might as well pay them extra

While Woodson is a disaster the one thing I think we need to realize is neither Thad Matta or Dane Fife being here still would change anything. For everyone who thinks those guys leaving spelled doom we need to face the facts that they were not solutions and their presence on the staff made zero difference.

Game has clearly passed Matta by and his hiring at Butler was same sentimental thing IU did and his tenure there has gone about as badly as Woodson's. Bulldogs working on seven year NCAA drought after two bad hires in a row with Jordan and Matta. They have become irrelevant locally. Tonight they were leading by 14 with 5 minutes left before a very mediocre Villanova squad scored final 22 points at Hinkle Fieldhouse for win. This sounds really familiar to Indiana's issues. Matta was a great coach in his day but end of OSU tenure was poor and he has been worse at Butler and don't think his knowledge in today's game was any great help to Woodson.

As for Fife, he blasted NIL and talked politics at work and I know for a fact those reports were 100% true. While his heart is in the right place, his philosophy does not match today's college basketball and there is a reason no one has hired him since.

To anyone who thinks Woodson letting these guys leave was a problem, that is just not the case. This basketball program has major issues that are the same with or without them and those who think them being around changes things are severely misguided.
