Fire Coach Woodson Thread

He was still a mid major coach and those are never slam dunks. I was expecting a slam dunk proven coach from a higher level. One thing iu is good at is making awful hires. Whether they look good or not. Now obviously archie at least made certain sense. Woodson made zero sense at all. It was nothing but quinn and the old brass taking care of their boy

The thing is those slam dunk coaches aren't leaving their current jobs for other jobs. Just look at the last few years of the hiring cycles

Or at least, I hope they learned their lesson. The chair of the BoT should not be making coaching hires. Period. Give them an "advise and consent" authority if you must, but do not allow them the strong arm the AD into making a nepotistic hire.

Last I remember BK was lower than a mid-major coach when he coached Army and went from Army to IU.  You don’t need a proven coach, although it will definitely help us fans to buy back in quicker, but we just need the right hire like BK and coach Cig.  I don’t believe we may be at the point where we need a proven coach because AM and MW have set us back from what little momentum Crean built and the fact that fan trust with the current program and University have totally went gone way way down.  I will ask you this, last year when Dusty May was a mid-major but unproven on the P5 level, would you have taken him?  Now that we wait a year to see how he does a UM and he goes 23-7, or something like that, becomes a 6-8 seed in the tournament, wouldn’t that wait payoff?  His buyout, from what I have heard on this board, is hypothetically affordable.  I would take him, Beard, Pearl, and possibly Wade, if you are wanting a proven coach.  I would consider McCollom if you want to go mid-major but still could be a risk.  Who are you considering?

Woodson claimed he came to get the program back on track and was here short term. Instead he did the exact opposite and developed zero recruiting pipeline with indiana hs coaches. He has done alot of damage.

I swear, watching the IU/Wisconsin ladies game is what a well coached team looks like! They are a well oiled machine right now. Their passing, shooting, spacing and defense is on point!!!

And this is a “down year” for us. Teri Moren has done a phenomenal job with the women’s program.

….and to think several were criticizing Moren and the team for their poor, early season play. Some were questioning her coaching abilities…. Again, this is how a well coached team is supposed to play as they improve game by game. The entire team looks in sync with each other and only gonna get better. The IU women’s play is another reason Dolson can’t overlook the inabilities and lack luster coaching/play of the men’s team.

Curious about Wade's transgressions and his "show cause" penalty. It expires this summer, but is the nexus of that penalty reason for concern? Failure to report violations, impermissible cash payments, failing to cooperate with an investigation, failing to promote an atmosphere of compliance... not sure we want or need any of that here.

Former LSU men's basketball coach Will Wade, who was fired for cause in March 2022 due to multiple NCAA Level I violation allegations dating back to 2017, has been assessed a two-year show-cause order and a 10-game suspension at his new school, McNeese State. The punishment was handed down Thursday by the Independent Resolution Panel (IRP), the governing body of the soon-to-be-defunct Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP).

A day after announcing its hiring of Wade this past March, McNeese State made a proactive move to suspend him for the first five games of the 2023-24 season. The IRP doubled that number on Thursday. The IRP's ruling cannot be appealed.

According to the IRP, Wade "committed multiple violations, including failing to report potential NCAA violations, providing impermissible cash payments to impede disclosure of information of potential NCAA violations in contradiction to NCAA unethical conduct legislation, and failing to cooperate with the infractions investigation. The hearing panel also found that the former head men's basketball coach violated the head coach responsibility rules by failing to promote an atmosphere of compliance within the men's basketball program."

Four Level I violations were determined by the IRP, with two more of Level II and two more Level III transgressions. The majority of this case was about Wade and LSU men's basketball program, but the LSU football program was delivered its own set of sanctions. Those stem from violations totaling $180,150 that involved former LSU lineman Vadal Alexander. The school vacated its football victories from games Alexander played in. Each program is on probation for the next three years, and neither was assessed a lack of institutional control charge, though both were hit with failure-to-monitor charges.

IU would proactively shut down the program for a minimum of 10 years; whatever program is left after Woodson does his job.

I agree!!  Actually the last two coaches have but MW has really dug us a major hole because of his laziness.  I know you want a proven coach with an already established recruiting pipeline but I don’t see it.  Dusty May maybe as proven as you get.
