Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Does Woodson have any vested interest in any of our other programs?  Or is he more into the country clubs in the area.  Even during the women's tournament runs, he didn't give a crap.

No. Teri Moran asked him to speak to the women's team last year and he refused... Coach Cignetti told her that he would, and he did.

Does anyone see fisch publicly commenting on ius lack of effort and falling way short of their abilities as a sign woodson may not finish this season? Sounds like he sees and is bracing for the devastation we're all about to experience. I believe if our kids were playing hard but just not talented he should finish the year. Wasting talent because they are ill prepared or for whatever reason not giving effort he should get canned and let anyone else but him finish out the season! My opinion

That comment he had is in the link to his weekly spot with Coyle last Monday. He said that Woodson didn't like the effort while Auburn played their butts off beating Purdue.

He's a POS.  Though it’s probably a benefit the women’s team didn’t have to listen to him — he’s a loser.

Top-5 NIL in the portal era will fund a restoration that takes two years max.

Firing Woody after two years wouldn’t make sense, but if Woody was let go after last year they would understand it was a disaster and they likely wouldn’t be worried.  As long as they make progress each year they will get four+ years no problem.

Nice clunker!!!!  lol.  Pretty awesome!  What year is it?  1985-1988?

'86 per another poster's analogy.  Hopefully this is what our program looks like post-Woodson, it's definitely a clunker right now.

I agree, he was doomed to fail from jump because he either didn’t know what the real job entailed or wasn’t willing to really do it. I think he thought he could cut corners and still get to where he needed to go and that was never going to happen.

Answer:  All the above

Didn't know what it entailed and refused to listen to anyone that did know.

I would rather listen to Cig anyway.  I hope he writes a book.  From what I can tell he has a great leadership model that he lives and preaches.

There is not a serious school in high major that would have kept a coach with a zero person recruiting class. We kept a coach who lost his one person class. We were for a not insignificant length of time, the only P4 team in the country without a 2024 commit. It’s unconscionable he was allowed to continue for a 4th year. Any coach not named MW would not have survived how that season and cycle went at a serious basketball school. We are completely unserious and I will continue to think that until there is a change.
Not only that no serious school would ever fund a guy like this with 6.2 million in NIL. And his salary forget it most would not even pay him half of that. We are very good at wasting money. World class.

I watched the video. I felt like he gave his own opinion. He said if you watch alot of other teams they are playing harder than iu is for whatever reason. He said he watched auburn and purdue and was impressed how much effort auburn plays with.

Imo woodson says some really stupid stuff. His latest was when someone said iu can't put a 40 minute game together and he disagreed saying we have played a few good 40 minute games and won by alot lol. I have watched every game and we have not had a full 40 minute game. That's hard for any team but for a coach trying to get his kids over a hump he shouldn't be praising anything they have done so far imo

Maybe he meant total. If you pull out the good stretches from the sleep walking or blowout losses you might get a few 40 minute games in 4 years...might.

Winning coaches typically don't plan on losing and sucking for multiple seasons. It's why they're winning coaches.

A winning coach gets right to work and has that car fixed up in no time. Other coaches complain about it, make excuses and blame the car's previous ownership. You can probably guess which ones our last three coaches more closely resemble.

The point is that had the IU admin  fired both CAM and CMW after  2 year of mediocre  results, they would be raked over the coals for being overly reactionary and no respectable coach would want to deal with such dysfunction. Just as attractive as the facilities and NIL are, a heavy handed fickle administration would repulse them.  IU is far from the irresistible cherry topped sundae most on here think it is.

Woodson absolutely needed to go after 3 seasons, but not because he only made 2 NCAA tourneys(the first 2 times in 8 seasons) but because he is an absolute willful failure at recruiting, lacks any desire to get better at coaching, and has no ability and even less desire to build a competent staff.
