I guess since socials thrive on anonymous people saying things they’d never say to someone in person I shouldn’t expect anything better 

I have no issue saying the things that I’ve said directly to Quinn Buckner and Mike Woodson.

I am not hiding behind any anonymous social media. I have written to all parties expressing my angst with their collective performance of their respective duties and proudly signed my name and provided my contact information.

Woodson is a thief and Buckner is guilty of malfeasance. No one will ever change my mind about that.

They knew what they were doing, trying to get payback for their years of service to the University but instead they are thieves because they are ripping off the University

I have been trending towards a replacement for a bit. But what I won’t do is participate in any character assassination of either Woodson or Buckner. People can express their dissatisfaction with their abilities or lack thereof without being disrespectful.

Listen, I loved Woodson as a player. He was a legend. And I understand the character assassination you feel is unnecessary.

At the same time, Woodson has brought some of this grief upon himself. This goes beyond running an antiquated system that no one else competing at a high level uses. It’s about effort - or lack thereof. And we’re not just referring to the lack of effort in the Louisville and Gonzaga games, or in the last 7 minutes Friday night.

How about going to sectionals when your team is not playing - and all your rival coaches are there? How about taking a minute of your day to send a text to a committed player (McNeeley) so to keep building a relationship? How about going to scheduled dinner with a player in town on a recruiting trip but instead blow it off so you can continue smoking cigars and playing cards?

Vince Lombardi once said “Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all time thing. You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.”

That’s the issue I see with Woodson. His team’s effort is a direct reflection of their coach. As coach of IU, there are a lot of great benefits and privileges, and he’s enjoying the wine, the cigars, and the golf. But the other things - the things that go a long ways toward being successful - he’s content with doing them once in a while.

You can’t be once in a while, you can’t be sometimes. If you are, you get what we see in Indiana Basketball.

It is kind of a chicken and egg thing.  

Why would Coach Woody fail on court?  Why would Coach Woody be hired then fail on court?

Both points of view have merit.  

The Board of Trustees, Quinn Buckner and Dolson all have roles.  Seems to me they all failed in selecting Coach Woody relative to the on court coaching stuff.

Keep in mind, though, they just may have a different agenda.  Not just winning basketball may be the goal.  They probably wanted to reconnect with alums and previous basketball players.  

So to fans, it appears to fail with respect to the W/L and NCAAT criteria.  But to others, it may be a bridge to a more strategic vision.  

I just do not know the puts and takes on the Board of Trustees mandating Woody's hire and whether AD Dolson would really just roll over.  Heck, if Glass'* pick of Archie Miller blew his powder...this time, maybe, the tradeoff was it would be Quinn Buckner's turn to pick a HC.  (Remember when Herbert allegedly mandated that Kelvin Sampson be hired.  And oversite was lacking.  Another tradeoff?)

There likely is a lot of stuff decided out of our view.  I'm still chagrined about the last 5 basketball coach hires and extreme mismanagement of the program.  Maybe there is light at the end of the season.

Dolson knows how to bring in $$$$s. Alums got stroked by connecting with history of the program.   Dolson has proven adept at hiring the HC in football.  May that process bring a winner within the next 5 months.

While the football program, this season, has caught lightening in a bottle...may that continue.

Now for my old guy perspective:  RMK was our lightening in a bottle.

Personally, I lost a lot of love and interest in football...primarily because of Indiana's football program from the mid-70's on...except for a couple of seasons. 

 I still like basketball more...and miss the old days of man-to-man, and X's and O's, defense, getting to the line, players with roles, and great competition in the Big Ten.   Remember when Bob Knight benched his 5 starters?

The whole “program” narrative is complete BS.  Back in the day, fine.  We had plenty of debates here about everything from IU’s reluctance to pay players under the table to the freaking cheerleaders uniforms.  Well that ship has sailed.  We can now pay players and have a top NIL package to do so.  So that excuse is gone.  So we must be back to the cheerleaders uniforms.

It’s not even like the Archie Miller hire that looked good at the time but in hindsight was a bad decision. It was crystal clear from day 1 that it was a horrible hire yet they did it anyway and have subjected us to four years of it.

Don't forget calling out the NOT true fans. Yeah, maybe some of that may seem petty, but the constant snide remarks and snarky comments directed at the NOT fans goes a long way demonstrating the character of the man. He hasn't attempted to build a single bridge since he got here... instead, he disparages everyone who questions his existence on campus - the fans, the other coaches, the other athletic teams... they are all beneath him... despite his absolute incompetence.

They say "it ain't braggin' if you can back it up"... the only thing Woodson has backed up is the armored car to haul away his excessive and unearned paycheck.

The people who won’t change their tune after a 17 point drumming to Nebraska for the 4th straight time, have drank so much Kool Aid that the rest of us couldn’t become True Fans even if we wanted to at this point.

To them he will always be the king of indiana. Mcnelley made the right choice the king would have ruined him.
