Huge mistake since it's no secret. He's only making it that much harder to field a good team next year. Maybe that's his goal. But I didn't think so for 2 reasons:

1) that would imply planning on Dolson's party which he hasn't shown an ability for

2) instead of helping him fail, the better option is to just fire Woodson

Burying his head in the sand and trying to pretend there isn't a problem won't make everyone forget how bad last year was. That strategy is part of the reason I want Dolson fired, too.

I was just thinking the same thing.  There is still time.  He brings a couple of his dudes to fill out the roster.    Picks up a couple of portal players.  And starts building a foundation with next year's high schoolers.

Unfortunately I think the commitment from Tucker all but seals our fate.  Leave it to IU to make it where signing an All American could set the program back for years.

Man, this is an awkward off season. The coaches hate the fans. Most of the fans don’t enjoy the product. The optimism factor is so low.

I find myself rooting for success yet not knowing what that looks like with Woodson.

After watching Queen, McNeely, Boogie again. They are better than even I thought, but I’m not sure Woodson wins with them.

Other better coaches are having better off-seasons.

Where does Woody catch up?

Tough times indeed.

Not sure Woody does catch up. But hoping he does. Ideally they make the dance and then he retires. Even if he wins a big ten next year, I hope he retires because the product on the floor is not a style of play I’m interested in watching. In many ways I feel that Purdue plays a style much more to what is Hoosier basketball than IU. Yeah they feed Edey but they have plenty of ball and player movement, good shooting, and the top in state kids are going to PU.

Did you happen to watch ISU last night? That's a fun style. They really move the ball around. Haven't seen that from IU in a while.

Same. As much as I want woody gone losing sucks. 

 

Ironically,  the nil/transfer situation helps keep interest up for me. If we were running back the same crap product my interest would be pretty low. But now I'm at least wondering what the team looks like next year.  And I'll watch the beginning of the year to see how it fits together.

This. Normally, winning cures all is a pretty easy blanket to throw and it is true. I am not sure it does for me in one year short of a FF (lol). I’ll enjoy the wins and be rooting for the next players, but I simply don’t see him stepping down or getting fired with a tournament team next season, early blowout or otherwise. He is not the coach of the future, and our program is being held hostage. 
 

And that’s before you start the nightmare that would be Kentucky and IU opening at the same time. Really want the gulf between what we are and what Kentucky is on display nationally? Wait until they run Cal off next year. It’s nauseating to me to think about because they will aggressively pursue every top 5 coach in college. And we won’t because the IU administration won’t be aggressive. Tucking tail after BS and hiring Woodson was as clear an indication of that as I need.

No I actively chose not to watch. Hope they win the NIT but watching will make me just sit there and think what if.
