I will send you a DM tomorrow to explain everything. And I will pass on to everyone what a couple of IU coaches think of Woody.

Any chance you could send one of those my way? ty:)

So Indiana will win a couple more games and have a mediocre year. Woodson will land some mediocre portal kids and win 19 games next year and Dolson will extend him.

If that happens, we’ll never get rid of him.

I’m trying to be Positive. We need Reneau, Mgbako, McNeely, and two transfer guards plus Galloway

You will likely need more than that.  I think best case scenario you see Banks, Gunn, Walker, Johnson, Leal, and Ware leave.  McNeely takes extra scholarship.  You need about 4 guards and 2 forwards from the portal IMO.  And you need at least half of them to be top of the BIG starter quality.

I thought a lot of that was our defense tonight.  Minnesota is not as well coached as Penn State.  They didn't have a lot of movement which made playing defense easier.

Go back and look again. Many of those missed shots where wide open.

Well we know X and Walker are out of eligibility.  Banks, if he’s still on the team, is obviously gone.  Gunn probably as well, both looking for playing time.  And fairly certain Ware goes NBA.  So that’s down 5, plus the open scholarship is -6.  MM is a wildcard — don’t really know what he’s thinking.  But him, Malik, and Gallo will probably field offers from other teams.  So you could have as many as 6-8 spots to fill.  You have one player committed.  No way you’re filling that many spots with “star” type players that woodson wants via the portal/late commitments.  Add the fact that it apparently takes a decade to learn his defense and next year isn’t going to be pretty.

The administration thinks everything is OK by bringing him back.  If everyone transfers that you mentioned up there, McNeely will be gone too.  He’s going to end up fielding a team of rejects, and the team will have no chemistry and it will take most of the season to learn his defense.  We might be lucky to win 10 games

Let's be honest with ourselves, the administration never really considered moving on. You don't go from 'Buckner won't stand in the way' to 'he's coming back' in a matter of hours if it's a real consideration. They announced it because they heard the rumors and wanted people to accept the sad reality.

You want their attention? It's not emails some unfortunate intern goes through, stop buying tickets etc. As long as they get your money they do not care how the program is doing and they just confirmed that.

There is nothing in Woodson’s three year history to suggest he could pull a major haul from the portal. His best get in all three years was Ware.  Then a few “+” players like Kopp, maybe X, Walker.  And a few “busts.”   This thing is about to crash and burn.

It does appear the deepest pocketed boosters are content with the status quo, which makes it hard to affect real change.

Maybe coordinate a campaign to get everyone dissatisfied to wear a paper bag over their head to the game on Sunday?

We barely beat 300+ teams this year with the roster we have. If we lose all of those players, 10 wins will be hard to come by. And that’s in a down big ten. Our ceiling might end up closer to 8 wins.

So the best case scenario is:

Portal PG

Portal SG

McNeeley

Mbgako

Reneau

Galloway (6th man)

The problem with that scenario is that the front court defense will be...not good...barring huge leaps from Mbgako and Reneau.

Those Portal guards not only need to bring about 25-30 PPG, but they'll also need to be world class on-ball defenders. Otherwise, with Reneau as the rim protector, he's likely to foul out after 15-20 MPG.

That would be my best guess. Somebody somewhere must’ve been disgruntled to get the rumors started, but that’s about it.

On a side-note some of my big IU fan friends that aren’t message board guys had started to read the articles and just started texting our group with “do we think Woodys gone if we lose” type texts yesterday. Then they woke up to the osterman news this morning and were like “wtf?!?.” …lol. Basically , they went through in 12hrs what this board did in 12 days.

But to your point, that’s exactly why they quashed it when they did as the “average” fan started to get the idea that he might be gone.

If rumors are to be given any credence anymore, 3 of the actual 4 names you've penciled in supposedly won't be here next year. I hope we can keep them.

Also proves just how deeply unserious they are about this program. They'd rather save the blackeye and keep one of their own then do what's best for the program.
