Penn State was quicker all game.  Woodson played Ware, Reneau, and Mgbako at the same time for too many minutes.  Sure, they are our best players, but that lineup was too slow against Penn State.  We should have tried playing small even without Johnson.  They were dictating the pace and we needed to adjust.  Why not try a zone just to give PSU a different look on a couple of possessions?  Why no adjustments?  Very frustrating loss!

So who are our quickest players?

That’s the start of the problem and him being stuck in his ways is another problem.  He was dead set on eating at the table and lost or didn’t have focus on roster construction. You have to build a team with a purpose that fits your style of play, I don’t think Woodson knows what that is and he has tried to mask it by collecting the most talented player that will commit.  I think TJD, Race and Kopp masked a lot of Woodson’s coaching flaws.

sure looks like it.

Who has been saying he needs 4 years to get things rolling? Maybe you have examples but I don’t recall anyone posting that.

I could see giving him another year, IF he had a stable of incoming players coming in.  Every program has a down year.  But 1 signee isn't going to meet that standard no matter how good the kid is.  He's failed epically at getting that part of base building done.

Hopefully it was more enjoyable in person. Even the games we win, it doesn't feel like we win, it just feels like we didn't lose.

Always great to see us play and win. But I’m almost over Assembly Hall as a venue. Small, cramped seats, and I busted my @$$ on those stupid half steps. I say we blow it up, play in the field house for a year, and build a replica of Gainsbridge Fieldhouse. We took in a Pacers game too and that’s a bad @$$ facility.

Without Johnson, they would include Galloway, Gunn, Cupps, Walker, and Banks.  Try playing 4 of those and Ware.  This would have possibly made switching on defense more effective and spread the floor on offense.  Not saying this would have won the game, but what we were doing was getting our a$$ kicked.

If he had Purdue's class coming in, I'd be fine with him staying one more year. Right now he's got one player.

Recruiting energy (or lack thereof) has consequences.

The problem also is Woodson's schematics/system is awful. The system has to change for us to have any hope. His coaching is way below subpar and I"m not sure it will change.

I agree, his coaching is way below subpar because he made 0 adjustments at half time and then allowed Penn State to take the lead before calling a timeout and then his in game adjustments during the 2nd were nonexistent too.  It’s not hard to gameplan against us, pack it in the paint, double team Reneau, guard Mgbako and leave Trey open to clang 3’s.  It’s not Rocket Science

Just make sure he has enough mortar to go with those bricks.

Unfortunately top program’s “down years” are often similar to the past two years that we had. For Woody, those were his top years.

But seriously….it is depressing to think that we have to sit through another year of Woodson being the coach knowing that he can’t coach this program to any actual success.

Haven’t gone back through the old pages, but wanted to post this.

As a dad who has been nothing but positive about IU and Woody, looks like he is calling out what others also said on here about Woodys post game “not going to throw the players under the bus” comment…only to throw them under the bus haha

We just need to get over the hump

It wil be hard because we are still at base camp.  Woodys favorite book is the little engine that could!  “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can”

IU has become an NBA prep camp. The players now get NIL bc they said it’s unfair for them to do all this stuff and enrich the NCAA and the schools.

Now, the fans are being used and everyone else is getting paid bc they think we are fools.

If IU screws up the next hire, I might actually stop caring.
