To me…..Its going on a run long enough to garner national respect again. Probably need to get to an Elite 8 or a couple sweet sixteen runs to get there. I don’t anticipate any of this happening with Woody. He had a minimally decent start and gave all the detractors all the ammo they need with this season. I can almost guarantee that whatever the new competitive advantage is, Indiana will be last to implement it. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Muskie for three and thebigweave 2 Quote

AKHoosier Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I don't know what it means to be "back", I just know this isn't it. Banksyrules, JF87, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote
8bucks Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 We are kind of like Alabama before Saban. Some small spurts that got us excited but nothing really anywhere close to back. Alabama finally decided they needed to go get their guy AND their guy said yes. Seems like IU went hard after their guy last time but when he said no the admin hoped Woody could pull out a miracle. str8baller Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I’d say if we were: -consensus top team in conf (maybe 2nd best at worst) -make the tourney every year -top 4 seed and/or make the 2nd weekend at least 50% of the time or more -occasional FF run 4-5 years -and of course a title amongst that would cement that coach and program as back thebigweave and HoosierHoopster 2 Quote

Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 Being Top 25 at a minimum every year. But to be BACK BACK... Top 15 every year. Quote
Trish Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 Great question! In my opinion. I believe Indiana being “back” would mean being consistently ranked in the Top 25 year after year, if not Top 10 in multiple pre-season polls. Multiple Elite 8 appearances in 5 years or less. Indiana would be back then. thebigweave 1 Quote
Hornsby Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I guess making the round of 32 and getting blown out is back to dolson. Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk Quote

I admit this isn’t scientific or anything, and I’m open to being persuaded. But that’s how I see “BACK.” What say you? Unreasonable and basically unachievable -- anywhere. 3 FF's in 5 years?? Haven't read through this thread but don't think we ever did that before, so confused as to how in the world doing so, for the first time, would be 'back.'' For me, conference championships absolutely matter. They -- along with regularly competing at the top of conference -- are a much better barometer of how good a team/school is than its MM runs, which, clearly, are 1 and done games in the 'madness' setting of the tourney. Winning well regularly in conference is the route to a championship, in any event. I'll go with regularly competing at the top of the B1G, with at least 1 conf championship, and consistent NCAA tourney runs, no NIT's, with multiple SW16's and at least 1 EE over a 5-6 year period (with the assumption that level of success continues forward) thebigweave 1 Quote
