Couldn't tell you. Because none of them were around really for Knight. They want to push Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Gonzaga, Michigan State. But they'll push Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Florida etc before they do Indiana. I took notice in 2012-2013 with the treatment of Zeller.

Nevermind Zeller. Trayce didn’t get the attention he deserved, it’s the Edey show. I firmly believe what time Trayce has had on the court this season in NBA is more than Edey will see next year.

**** we ***** and whine a lot

Woody doesn’t have it
The media doesn’t hate us for shits and gigs. Why would they give a **** to promote a dogshit program? It’s not some big conspiracy that the media hates us because RMK was here eons ago

IU administration hasn’t been concerned about Ws in athletics for awhile but they’ll sellout for $$$. I believe a certain high profile coach once said he wouldn’t coach at IU unless the admin changed. I wonder why..

Glad we have our basketball history from 30+ years ago

We’ll never know. I have a hard time believing both (a) they had Brad Stevens ‘in the bag’ at $7 million and (b) Mike Woodson was the best they could do after Brad scorned us. The two theories don’t go together. Picking Woodson just wasn’t a serious decision for a multitude of reasons. If they were serious enough about winning to go that hard after Brad then they could’ve bagged someone else. I just really don’t know how you can go from a grand slam candidate to a pop out.

Once it was common knowledge they went after Brad and he said no, IU was damaged goods.  No top tier coach was going to come being "sloppy seconds."

We are a state university so there's probably some level of state government that could overstep the BOT but it would only be implemented in some extreme circumstance most likely dealing with finances and certainly not in everyday operations and hiring/firing decisions.   Strictly my personal opinion and FWIW.

yeah, let's not forget IU is more than athletics.  Going to have to a whole lot more than a bad basketball coach to get removed.  Heck a strong contingent of taxpayers probably object to the money spent on athletics anyway.

To be fair - Ant Wright posted about this. He watched the whole game back and tracked the fouls. He said there were 13 more on NU and 11 more on Purdue. So gap was even wider and refs let a lot go. He did say Eddy had 4 of them.

He is pretty knowledgeable. That might not be perfect but does suggest it was actually pretty fair.

now, the average PU fan has no clue and is just being defensive.

This is the thing:  if there were that many uncalled fouls on Edey, the number of fouls that Northwestern would have been called for would have greatly dropped because they wouldn't have needed to foul Edey so much because he would have been in foul trouble or out of the game.  It's a chain reaction.

Ant tracking the uncalled fouls also doesn't account for the legitimacy of the fouls that were actually called.  I look at a guy like Mason Gillis -- who didn't attempt a single shot inside the arc and wasn't a guy grabbing a lot of rebounds -- and see he shot 8 free throws.  Strange thing is he had only shot more than 2 free throws once all year and even then that was only 4.

He shot the last 4 technical fouls at the end of the game so basically should of been just 4

True, but that was just one oddity.  Boo Buie has averaged 5 1/2 free throws in Big Ten games and didn't get to the line against Purdue.  In the first game against Purdue, he got to the line 10 times.

The first game at Northwestern, Purdue had 41 free throws and Northwestern had 32.  This time around, it was 46-8.  Northwestern DOES foul a lot but I certainly didn't see any difference between the contact the two teams were doling out in the game in Evanston and the one in West Lafayette....but 46-8 and 41-32 are most certainly different numbers.

Playing on the road stinks and sometimes you get the shaft like northwestern did but at the end of the day they were right there with a chance to win the game at the end even with some of their bone headed plays and shot selection  down the stretch in regulation.

I still remember at the height of the financial crisis he gave a speech on how families should sacrifice financially to send their kids to IU because the education was worth it.... Only to announce a $1M raise shortly thereafter... Then after receiving backlash he announced that summer classes would get a minor discount.

Or how he drained IU's emergency fund to move the bell tower, only to face an actual emergency (Covid) shortly thereafter.

Or how he...

Amazing what happens when your president and AD and college basketball coach get fired and leave a power vacuum. You're left with McRobbie and Glass and Crean.

No comment.  I'm just pointing out the IU pecking order and that Buckner and the BOT are at the top of the food chain.

What people forget is that former players, alumni, and others wanted an IU guy. Dolson, Buckner, and Isiah ran the search. They thought they had BS and could sell that to everyone even though he's not an IU guy. But once that fell through, Buckner and Isiah pushed their buddy. Dolson added Matta and Fife. I know for sure this is how it happened but not my job to convince anyone.

When you say formers players it seems like it was more the old guard who pushed him. The guys under 55 don't seem nearly as warm and fuzzy about woodson as quinn and all his buddies do. And if it had to be an iu guy alford was the easy call over woodson imo..

All those younger guys were warm and fuzzy the last two years. But I would tend to agree the older guard wanted him more than the younger guys. But the older guys actually won so they probably have more say.

Still baffles me they they thought woodson would be better than alford. At that point it seems to me it became more about let's hire our friend and not about college credentials.
