Sounds like it is COVID per Jeff Goodman. While that sucks, better than an injury. Unless he has a severe case of it (which is not seen that much anymore) he should be back next game.

Also no testing of asymptomatic people anymore. Even if he passes it on, unless teammates shows symptoms, it shouldn't take whole teams down at once like it did a couple years ago. Back then, everyone was tested nearly daily so they would catch a ton of asymptomatic cases which won't happen now. 

No matter how you feel about the virus, it is treated the same as influenza at this point by the medical world. I am not saying this is right or wrong and want to leave the politics out of it, but this is how society has treated it now for better or worse.

Xavier Johnson expected to miss Indiana’s game against Kennesaw State

The wait for the return of Xavier Johnson will continue into 2024.

The sixth-year guard is not expected to play on Friday evening when the Hoosiers host Kennesaw State at 6 p.m. ET (BTN Plus).

Jeff Goodman reported the news first for The Messenger.

Sources tell The Daily Hoosier Johnson has returned to practice but has not fully progressed to game readiness.

We should still be able to beat Kennesaw State fairly handily without Ware. Agree, start Walker. Think Sparks will be up for the challenge of more minutes today vs. this level of competition. 

Didn't expect X to be back today but would have been nice for him to be able to shake off some rust before conference play. Tough luck last two seasons. 

I bit the bullet and coughed up $10 for BTN+ ... cancelling right after the game. Such a PITA

Honestly, I wished Xavier Johnson had not come back for a 6th year and we would have gotten somebody else in his place that would being playing significant minutes every game.  I know he might be back sometime, but his return to the team has been useless so far!  It’s kind of handicapped our team.

Well... Reneau really gonna have to step up at the 5 and Sparks or we are gonna lose this one. Gotta keep that shooting confidence going from last game.
Well let's see if sparks can live up to his stud status he was given n this border over the summer. Stillwaiting on gunn to be that stud
