Galloway played so hard. Mgbako is giving better effort. I really like Reneau. But overall such a flawed team. We play so slow. Was Reneau getting into it with a fan at the end? Something has him pissed off. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners It'd be a boost of Mgbako's shooting improved. 3-14 and 0-5 from 3, oof. DChoosier 1 Quote
DChoosier Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Nicholls is beating Maryland by 11 with 14 to go in front of 900 rabid Maryland fans (just a brutal turnout). In case you are wondering….No, JG has not morphed into a 3 yet. FortWayneHoosier, Kentuckysucks, 94Bulldog and 3 others 3 3 Quote
Hornsby Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 I actually don't mind margin of victory being more of a factor now. I was going back over our scores today, and with this one included, I believe we've only scored seven more points than we've allowed this season. That's usually not the hallmark of a good team. We are barely beating the types of teams we would normally beat by 25 to 35. It wasn't just tonight it's been every home game.Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk Quote

Come selection Sunday as long as IU has enough wins against tournament quality teams these close games against lesser competition are just wins. However 2 less points and games like this are a loss instead of a win then you have a landmine Q3 or Q4 loss on your resume. I just wish we won bigger so we didn't have these blemishes against mediocre Ohio Valley schools. Quote

I feel the same about this team as I did at the beginning of the year. Flawed basketball team that will be a borderline tourney team thebigweave, HoosierHoopster and DChoosier 3 Quote

MM has to have the ball when we will be getting free throws Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk Thank you. Just a horribly selfish play by MR. Great board, goes up against 3 guys rather than toss it back out to burn clock and in the hands of a good free throw shooter. Gets bailed out on the foul ball and then misses both free throws. He’s my least favorite player in years…. thebigweave 1 Quote

Big difference That’s one of the advantages of NET as a selection tool vs pure-predictor or efficiency rankings. Morehead isn’t awful either. About 150ish in kenpom style rankings. With their guards they could have a good conf tourney run and land in the big dance. With that said, the W is about the only good thing you can take from that game. Would feel near catastrophic with a loss, even though teams occasionally do lose those games. I still like scheduling them better than all 300+ ranked teams. thebigweave and Uspshoosier 2 Quote

Little positivity on a negative night I love Galloway but….. In order to take that next step. He needs to be our 3rd best guard. He will learn this year the leadership traits needed for next year. It’s kind of odd in that the guys that rank HS players tend to overweight natural athletic ability but MM, who I think can be a good player for us, is “stiff” in his movements, doesn’t have good hands in traffic, doesn’t rebound outside of his area, isn’t fast/smooth/athletic in transition and seemingly eats the ball 50% of the time he tries (in a cumbersome fashion) to take it to the hole. ie. not a 5* type of “athlete”. His FT stroke is awesome and it would be, or will be, great if that stroke transitions to the perimeter. Quote
