Not saying we would have won. It just is what it is……

That’s Rich.  All you keyboard coaches and ADs — complain like Karens but have no actual answers.

Solution:  Fire Woody after the season and hire Dusty May.  Woody is 66 and will not be here long no matter what.   Dusty could coach another 20+ years and looks very promising.   See what he can do here.  It can't possibly get any worse and he could very well be the next big thing.  We know what we have with Woody and it's not the answer.

Get a grip man.

I'm saying that as someone who likes the idea of Dusty in another 2-3 years.

The fans aren't the ones that are supposed to have the answers. The fans aren't the ones that are supposed to identify and fix problems. It's the staff that is suppose to. They shouldn't need a magic want to put together something that at least resembles a modern roster in year 3.

Dude just fell of the turnip truck.  I can guarantee it can get a whole lot worse -- at least we don't have those powerhouse programs of Indiana State and IUPFW on the schedule.

Well they sure act like it around here.   :)

My opinion. The fans you are referencing are just giving their opinions. That's what is supposed to happen on this message board. The fact we didn't get a guard or that the roster has holes in it is 100 percent the coaching staffs fault 100 percent. Even if they did everything possible. I like Woodson and everything he says. I am not thrilled with the results so far. Better than Archie. Better than crean? We shall see but I feel last 3 years we still underachievied. Hopefully this season will be good

Assembling a roster is probably the most important part of the coaching staffs R&R.

when Golf says who should they have gotten - the answer is, there were hundreds of guards in the portal, which one we got was up to the staff and we got zero. That was the worst case scenario

Call that a dead horse but that horse is going to be rotting all season, it’s not like folks are bringing up the same play or substitution that is done and over with

im not calling for Woodsons job at all, but there are some signs he isn’t going to get it done. These signs were there with Crean and Archie too, some fans and the administration just refused to see them until we were a consistent stinker.

Woodson is going to need to turn this season around and get us in the tournament AND use that momentum to land us a dream class in the portal.

Who?  Name names.  No more of this we could have gotten some unnamed mysterious all American.

There are literally dozens of names. Lots of other teams have guards that can shoot and stretch the floor. It's not like fans are asking for the next Lebron. We don't need an all American, although that would be nice too. Wanting competent shooters is pretty basic. Woody has had some recruiting wins for sure, but having a bunch of guards that are mediocre shooters at best is going to put a fairly low ceiling on the team.

We haven't had shooters since Crean was here, and that needs to be addressed. It's not necessarily easy, but it's not complicated.

I consider Gunn and Banks part of the Archie crew.  So you’re looking at 4 scholarships.

One recruit, Banks, transferred out.  One went to the NBA.  One is hurt.  What do you want Woodson to do?  Another middle school Bob.

I’ll ask again who?

No clue why you’d consider Banks part of the “Archie crew” when he committed to IU after Archie was long gone. And Gunn never played a second for Archie. Woodson chose to keep his commitment. That’s a Woodson player.

I want Woodson to be able to go out and land guard contributors in the portal. I mean, let’s not pretend that there were zero guards in the portal. Woodson just couldn’t get any of them to come to IU. That’s on him. It’s literally his job to build the roster. He has utterly failed to build a roster that fits 2023 basketball. We’re 345th in the country in 3pt percentage and 361st in the country in 3pt attempts. It’s inexcusable, yet some make all the excuses in the world for him.

I only watched a few minutes of the game but what I saw was discouraging. I got home and turned on the game when IU was up by double digits with under 10 minutes in the second half. I turned it off a few minutes later with IU up only 2 or 3 points. I've seen IU collapse too many times in the last 25 years to waste time watching another one. My 5 year old son asked me why I turned it off and I told him I didn't feel like watching IU play poorly so I just played with him instead. Better use of time.

Sorry but TJD was just a meh player under Archie.  He was all but gone until Woodson basically told him he had no shot in the NBA.  Woodson made him the player he is today.  When Archie was fired, recruiting was meh, the programs future was a mess.  It was nothing close to something like Coach K stepping away from Duke - a solid foundation under the program

TJD averaged 19/9 as a sophomore and had this resume. In what world was he a “meh player” under Archie?

2020-21 (Sophomore)
• Third Team All-American (Sporting News, NABC, USBWA)
• Honorable Mention All-American (AP)
• All-Big Ten (First Team by Media and AP; Second Team by Coaches)
• Wooden Award Finalist
• Karl Malone Award Finalist
• 2x Big Ten Player of the Week (Dec. 7, Jan. 11)
• All-Maui Invitational

There's only one Miller player that plays significant minutes too.

And Woodson chose to leave a scholarship open, so we can’t blame the other Miller player for taking up a scholarship. Woodson built this roster, flaws and all.

It makes no sense that people are trying to place any of the blame of this team on Miller. I'm not surprised though, people did the same with Crean when Miller was coach. They can't come up with a good way to defend the current coach so they blame the previous one.

Archie has nothing to do with this team. If we want to blame Archie for this year’s shortcomings then should we give him kudos for last year’s success considering his players/recruits (TJD and Race) played a significant role?

Exactly it’s year 3.  This is Woodsons team if he didn’t want a player he’s had more than enough time to replace them
