IUBB vs Auburn (Atlanta, GA) | 12/9/2023 @ 2:00pm on ESPN2

Recommended Posts

Terrible guard play, zero shooting, no bench scoring, and the team just wasn’t ready to play. Got punched in the mouth and quit. Woodson is better than Archie, but this program is still not going anywhere. Woodson is going to have to pull off portal miracles or he’s going to be on the hot seat after next season.

From a masterful Coaching Michigan win and tough play by the team on the road to a deplorable exhibition today.
Winning covers up a lot of sins.
Right the ship Woody. Beat Kansas!
F KU!
You are correct. What does getting exposed on our home floor do?

We just don’t have the guards to win at a high level.  And don’t appear to be getting the guards anytime soon

Good thing we decided the only 2024 guard we wanted was Boogie. We of course, can only have one good guard. Having more than one would be sacrilegious of course!

It's really kind of astounding that we still travel as well as we do. My guess is that when Gen X starts having grandchildren, we'll start seeing a much more noticeable drop unless we figure something out by then. I feel like every time the camera pans to the crowd at one of our games, they always show people who look like they're over 60.

That’s a good theory. I’ve always wondered how long a great program can run on fumes before you lose all the advantages that typically come with being a great program.

It seems we are going to test the limits of that question.

I said if we miss this hire the program won't recover, I stand by it. Woodson has games where he does a good job coaching like Michigan, then he has games like this where you say that's why he hadn't been a HC in nearly 10 years.

The staff built this roster, and it's not suited for modern basketball. They say they want to play outside in then build a roster to play through the post. We need guards and they put all their eggs in the Fland basket.

Not trying to start anything, just thought some people might be interested.....

Of Woodson’s $3 million annual salary, a base salary of $550,000 will be paid from the school with the additional $2.45 million coming from supplemental compensation which includes annual marketing and promotional income.

Woodson would have to pay a buyout of $3 million if he was to resign his job before March 31, 2024. After that date, Woodson’s buyout is $500,000. If Woodson is fired without cause before April 1, 2025, the school would have to pay him 100% of his remaining base salary until the end of the deal. If Woodson is fired after April 1, 2025, that payout is decreased to 50% of the remaining deal.

I'm no contract expert but by my calculation, if they were to let Woody go at the end of the season they would owe him $1.65 million, which would be his remaining base salary. I'm not advocating for that, just saying what it would cost.

If I had to bet on it, I would say Woody is going to raise the floor of the program and make it somewhat healthy, but we are going to have to make another hire to get where we really want to be. The hire after him is going to be the one that decides things whenever that is. I have doubts we make many deep runs with the current regime unless we make a real change in style of play.

Woody is not a guy who can win without talent. My biggest complaint with him is our abysmal guard play. Needed a guard bad.
Cupps us not the answer for the future. Good backup but you need a fland type.

His recruiting is baffling regarding guards.
