Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

Frye technically isn't the OC at Ohio State, Brian Hartline is although he doesn't call the plays either. No clue what Frye makes at Ohio State but I would have figured the chance at play-calling duties with a competitive salary would help jump start his head coaching potency but apparently IU is ready to potentially roll the dice.

If it is indeed Candle we probably won't hear anything official until after Toledo plays at noon Saturday. If Chryst it could be in the next 48 hours and he better have assistants already lined up and ready to go for Monday. God knows he needs it.

If it's Hart or Frye I'll pretend I care and try and talk myself into it, but realize that my Saturdays are going to be pretty free for the foreseeable future.

^^100%^^

Given what I've seen as possibilities and absent some barely talked about, awesome wild card, give me

  • Candle for youth and upside,
  • Lewis for the same reasons and because he hasn't signed in SD yet and we could theoretically swoop in, or
  • Gruden because that's the only potential "we still suck" option that would be highly entertaining.

EDIT: Also, thanks to @Demo, I watched some of Candle's interviews and he is very impressive. Seems like a natural, insightful, no-nonsense leader.

I think I read that Frye makes about a million a year to be the run game coordinator-OC.

I don't think we have met with any of these guys in person yet and want to do that today and tomorrow wherever we can and then go from there.

Just feels like Dolson hasn't been on top of things. I realize that Allen was let go Sunday, but many are claiming the decision was made weeks ago. It just seems odd that it's taken 4 days just to VET candidates. Candle is the only guy on that list that they may have limited access too given Toledo's status in the MAC championship. This whole process just reeks of amateur hour.

Starting today would be a good time to track flights. Not just arrivals but also departures. Speaking to you @Trish

We have a flight coming in from Columbus Ohio arriving at 12:56.  Just a heads up.

also a flight coming in from Columbus, IN ....maybe Tony Stewart is in the mix?

Jason Candle is the man after listening to his post game interview for 15 minutes 11-1 and victory over Ball State and in recent years solid win over Akron plus played Illinois tough. Did I hear a little bit of hot head?  Or just no nonsense.  Definitely no nonsense.  23 ranking and very complementary of players success.  And stated, “ “ ask the players, we haven’t won anything.  We have more football to play and we are trying to get where we want to go.”  Very Coach Teri Moren like in breaking down game and talking about players including passing game and Quarterback development and their individual work.  Jason Candle is the man and would be excellent for IU.  Let’s go!

Sidenote:  remember the recommendation by Bob Knight to hire Bill Mallory.

Sidenote:  Brady Hoke did not work at Michigan.  However, IU is not Michigan.

Simple.  It’s not rocket science.  Let’s Go!

Kevin Wilson left in 2016.  Four years later seems like a long time to give credit to a coach who was never above .500 at IU.  Those two bowl seasons IU was 6-6 in the regular season and lost their bowl games.....and IU was 6-11 in conference.

I know. But he had plenty to do with 2019 and 20.

If you can race cars, then you can coach football or something like that.

Maybe IUPUColumbus had a good season and were bringing in their coach.

I could be talked into this with good coordinators. Adding to my best case scenarios list.

Hovadipo's Officially Official 99 Best Case Scenario Rankings, From Best to Worst:

1. A coach with HC experience and a serious investment into facilities, staff salary, and NIL from IU and its partners.

2. A coach with HC experience and a half-assed attempt at making it sound like they might invest.

3. A coach with no HC experience, but a serious investment into facilities, staff salary, and NIL from IU and its partners.

4. A coach with no HC experience, but a half-assed attempt at making it sound like they might invest.

5. A coach with HC experience and Dolson fakes being deaf when asked about investing into the program at the presser.

6. A coach with no HC experience and Dolson fakes being deaf when asked about investing into the program at the presser.

7. Gruden for the memes.

8. Me?

...

46. Being hit by a bus.

...

73. IU folding the program.

...

81. Football ceasing to exist.

...

99. mike hart

If I understand this correctly, you would enjoy getting hit by a bus more than twice as much as Mike Hart being the new IU football coach?

To me, Candle has seemed like the obvious guy from the jump. But, truthfully, I don’t really care who they land on. And I don’t care what the guy says in his presser about the unpolished gem that is IUFB. What I do want to hear, and probably won’t, is Dolson deep dive his process into how he landed on who he landed on. And I’d like to hear the press push him on stuff if he just tries to platitude the thing. I’m a huge believer in process. You want us to believe in your result? Tell us how you got there.

Do we know if anyone has ever survived by being run over by a bus twice? If anyone could do it though it would Hovadipo

Yeah, there’s just no way Dolson is interviewing OC candidates. If those guys are interviewing with him, it’s for the head job.

Didn't Dolson do that with Dane Fife though?

I swear he was hired before Woodson was.
