Would Tayven have to sit a year if he portalled?

Guessing he’d get a waiver because of the coaching change but honestly who knows anymore.

I'll try to find the list of things they'll grant the waiver for now, but I don't think a coaching change is one of them anymore.

Found it:

The closest is #2 but the examples don't really seem to line up with coaching change).

UNDERGRADUATE FOUR-YEAR TRANSFER WAIVERS

(Effective for 2023-24 championship eligibility) An undergraduate transfer waiver will only be considered for  student-athletes who transfer:

(1)  For reasons related to the student-athlete’s physical or mental health and well-being;

(2)  Due to exigent circumstances outside the student-athlete’s control (e.g., physical or sexual assault or discrimination based on a protected class); or

(3)  Assertions involving diagnosed education impacting disabilities.

Players entering the portal with Allen gone is expected. Get a good coach he may he able to convince some of them to stay, or maybe draw some good transfers in if we can up our NIL game.

The buyout was way over the top, but I don't think anyone anticipated the drop off would be this bad and this fast. CTA had a chance to turn it around in his favor if he would have won at least 2 or the last three games. Same with the Louisville game. I think 5+ wins and three conference wins he's still our coach. I would bet Sorsby was gone no matter what. He's chasing the biggest NIL he can get which would not have been here. Dexter Williams, I don't get that. He hasn't played in a year, so he's not going to get much NIL and although he played admirably last season, he wasn't much of a passing threat. So his stock is pretty low right now. I suspect some guys will come back once the new coach is announced.

Ledarrius Cox is in.

I would like to point out that this thread wasn’t created for “freaking out” purposes. I make it every year to keep tracking of who’s coming and going. If you want to freak out, go for it, but posting that someone has entered the portal isn’t always a program changing loss. In fact, it rarely is.

Very true, particularly coming off that season.
How many kids would you put in the category of , “Oh, that one hurts” should they split?

Jaylin and McCulley and that’s honestly it for me. And any coach worth anything will be able to replace those two guys with similar talent this offseason.

If you want to dive really deep, things start getting sketchy if we lose too many offensive linemen. Not because they’re great talents, but because that room needs to be really freakin’ deep and just ask Deion what it’s like to play with a shallow, untalented OL room. Similar issue with the defensive backfield. Replaceable players, but not if you’re replacing 10 of them.

The portal taketh and the portal giveth.  In many respects players leaving may be a blessing in our case because we're not stocked with a bunch of 4 and 5 stars and the new head coach isn't stuck with a mediocre roster and can immediately start going after the types of players that fit his style.

This is a 3 win team. There are no players on it who can't be replaced with similar or better talent. Whoever the incoming coach is will need to have some roster turnover anyways. Better the players leave because they want to, not because they're pushed out.

Only dude I care about keeping is McCulley. The right coach and OC can turn him into an NFL caliber WR. And I've said since he became a WR, he was the most talented on the team.

McCulley is gone.

Meh. McCulley and Sorsby are big losses.
