Absolute embarrassment to lose to this team of mid majors twice in a season

IU is going to need favorable matchups in the tourney to advance (preferably teams that don’t shoot 3s and are bad at basketball).

It’s great that we can do that. But it’s silly to put yourself in that position because effort wasn’t there in the first half.

For how many years now, we haven't had anybody who can shoot worth a damn. 

We're 0 for 6 from distance and our one guy who's supposed to shoot 3s is scared to do so. 

How hard can it be to recruit a Zeisloft, a Roth, a JBJ, a Hulls -- or to find one in the transfer portal. Hell, Max Biefeldt was a better 3-point shooter than anybody we have now. 

They don't have to be the world's greatest athlete or have a 40-inch vertical -- they just need to be able to SHOOT. THE. DAMN. BALL. 

How this can continue to be such an area of neglect is difficult to fathom.

Gave up 5 threes in the first half, hit none. 

 

I continue to be amazed at how, in the year 2023, a Big Ten basketball program can devalue the 3 point shot like we do.

What about trying to go smaller in the second half?    Give Banks some minutes and see what happens.  We are getting caught with bad matchups on defense with how they play.  We are lucky they didn’t make a few more of their open threes and we are only down 8.

We do have shooters. We are ranked 24th in the nation as a percentage. Now.....we don't shoot as much as other teams. There are just halves where they don't fall. If we get the same looks next half, things will change quickly. Also, we were smart to switch on everything after their hot start. Didn't allow Pickett to back down our gaurds.

We had plenty of opportunities. Hell, TJD and Race both missed shots from 9 inches. Just don’t think we will shoot as poorly in the second half.

They outscored us by like 20 over the last 15 minutes or whatever.

We are good by % from deep but we are in the bottom 5% in attempts. You'd think with the dominance we have in the post we'd rebound and get enough looks for our shooters they'd get in a groove. Instead we go up soft too much and give up too many rebounds. It's odd for sure.

If we defend without fouling I think we will be fine.  Not too concerned about our offense but our defense and rebounding have got to be better.

I don’t understand why if the offensive player has to have a place to come down, why doesn’t the defensive player….that foul on TJD at the end of the half hurt, seemed like Pickett created the contact!
