Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Illinois - Saturday, 2/18/23 @ Noon on ESPN

Why does it seem like Illinois has 7 defenders on the floor when we have the ball? Offense is doing nothing in the half-court.

If TJD doesn't get it on the block - do the others really know what to do?

His stock is dropping like a rock.

It’s crazy, it’s actually been rising quite a bit even with all these stinkers he puts up. It’s the size and potential skillset and not so much the production. He is fortunate to have the ball in his hands all the time and a dominant big. I like his midrange but he doesn’t convert layups like he should and super inconsistent from 3.

I’ll die on the hill that 8 secs is too late to start your play unless you’re in the League. The execution is invariably bad and maybe it gets bailed out by a shot or something like that. Start it at 12 so the clock doesn’t get sped up in your facilitator’s head.

Bates was pretty good on defense that half, very active, but man he forces the shot a lot. Second game in a row where IU goes on a drought and he forces a 3 early in the clock trying to match the opponent. Just irritating - possessions like that TJD needs a catch and he chucks up a shot before TJD is even remotely in the area to grab an offensive board
