I remember how much I started to despise Tom Crean for throwing his players under the bus after tough losses…. I see a few parallels between Crean and Woody.

-Both were allergic to accountability. Woody’s press conference tonight nearly makes me want to find a new team and coach to support.

-Both had poorly constructed rosters well into their tenure

-Both had absolutely mind boggling substitution patterns and were EXTREMELY stubborn to change.

-Both played way too many players in the rotation.

-Both had teams that struggled to guard the perimeter.

I’ll scream it from the mountaintop now and until the end of time….. It doesn’t take winning coaches 3-4 years to compete for conference championships…. Let alone getting worse by year 3 and 4. Next year is shaping up to be worse.

We’ve all seen this exact same scenario play out over and over and over again. It’s staring us right in the face….again. Woody is not going to win here. God love him but it’s not going to happen.

I told everyone at the time that Woody would be just as bad as Archie possibly worse.  Trayce saved his @$$ for 2 years.  Now you're starting to see the real Mike Woodson.

If Woodson does end up being gone, whether it be after this year or next, what’s the more likely scenario that it happens? Will it be hard for Dolson to want to fire him because of who he is and being an alum? Would Woodson be willing to walk away on his own? Maybe there was a plan to begin and Dolson already knows who his successor is going to be. Hire Woodson for a few years to get things back on track, and then when he’s ready to be done, the next guy in line comes in. I thought I remembered a while ago someone saying that when Dusty May signed his last extension, it included some type of out clause involving IU.
This isn’t me giving up on the season, and hope Woody gets this thing going, just discussing our next move and how it may go down.

They hired a 60 year old that hadn't been a HC in almost 10 years, because he played at IU over 40 years ago.

They hired him because they went all in on Stevens, were convinced they had him, and were caught holding their you-know-what when he took a raise at Boston instead.

Woody will be fine as a bridge the gap guy (I know some don’t like when I call him that), and the season isn’t lost yet.

The depressing thing is that we don’t our coach of the future yet. Any teal chance at titles is realistically 3-5 years away minimum. It’s gets annoying sitting around waiting for a future that never comes. And quite frankly, none of that is Woodys fault, imo.

Woody's buyout is 12.5 million after this season. The best thing we can hope for is he agreeing he doesn't want to do this anymore. I don't think that happens after this season. The good thing is Dusty just signed a new 10-year contract to stay down there. After talking to his family over Christmas break, they all seem to think he and his family love it down there. Louisville could be a problem if they make a run at him. Roster management and playing style are my two basic gripes. But those aren't changing this season so I guess I'll just keep on keeping on.

Woody is way too stubborn to step down, even if he knows it's best. He could step down today and I'd be happy. Problem is, there is no on the bench that could coach their way out of a paper bag.

Yup. Woodson would need to agree to it. There’s a lot of influential people involved especially with CMW being a former player…I just don’t see a force out happening

Another question is would May come if it means at the expense of Woodson? A lot of factors involved.

He doesn't need the money, he could just play golf and go live in one of his 4 houses depending on the weather. It would take some close friends to talk him into it but I think it could be done, but probably not this year

Not a force, but just a nudge. Buckner, May, and other close friends, golf buddies would have to talk him into it.

I hate that we reside in the same state as Purdue and their fans get to enjoy teams that win a ton of games every year while we get this garbage. Yeah, they've had embarrassing losses in March, but they never have to think about their roster or wonder if they'll be good enough. They actually have a coaching staff that takes care of everything, from player development, to addressing weaknesses, to proper scheduling, everything we complain about. This program sucks and I hate it.

Purdue is what IU used to be. Minus the national championships, of course. That’s the only argument IU has against them. Purdue is a well run program and it shows.

It's hilarious that people were going after me about saying we need to mutually split with Woody... Now look what's being talked about.

People were trashing me for not wanting Woodson and keeping Archie. The only reason I wanted to keep Archie is so Indiana doesn’t hire a treadmill coach (which Indiana has now). I would’ve rather waited a year and seen what’s on the market the following year. Indiana is wasting time at the moment imo.

Woodson never should’ve been hired. He was a middling NBA head coach (46.3% record) who hadn’t had a head coaching job in almost a decade. He recently had no job at all for two seasons (18/19 and 19/20). He was hired for one reason and one reason only - the college he went to more than three decades prior.

He inherited TJD from Archie, and TJD carried the team for the next two seasons. Without TJD, well, we don’t look so hot.

I’d be fine with getting rid of Woodson today, but the IU administration won’t replace him with anyone better. The days of a powerhouse iubb program are long gone.

My only issue with splitting from Woody after year 3 is the message that it sends to potential coaches... but the more I chew in this, maybe it's the right message: "Come to Indiana. Build a Winner. Or get fired."

And Dolson needs to back that up by not creating these situations where he has to raise money to fund massive and ludicrous buyouts. The buyouts should protect the university's investment in the coach, but not handcuff them when the feces hit the rotational air movement device.
