Because I don’t sugarcoat the truth? I forgot this was the Sunshine and Rainbows forum of IU basketball.

If you left no one would miss you. I haven't been sunshine pumper lately and think we need a new coach but I know you that will not happen after this year. No matter who is the next coach if they start off the same as Woodson the fans will turn in that coach as well. It has been a rinse and repeat for 25 years.

I think our fan base can be the best thing for IU and the worst thing as well. Nationally our fan base is a joke because of our unrealistic expectations. I still think the negativity of this fan base has hurt recruiting and the caliber of coaching candidate we can get. Everyone blames the coaches, AD's, the BOT and the president of IU for the basketball program failures. We have changed all of these positions 4 or 5 times but it hasn't changed a thing. Maybe this fan base needs to look in the mirror and try to change some

Mike Woodson was born on 3rd base with a generational talent he inherited and has since ran the team into the ground. IU has yet to hire a competent coach and has an extremely tougher time cutting the cord. Inept administration is going to make inept hires more times than not. IU athletics needs a complete overhaul at the top.

We hired a competent coach, then we fired him and gave a self inflicted death penalty over something the NCAA didn't care about.

There’s not going to be a competent hire until there’s a complete overhaul at administrative top. Fred Glass and by his extension Dolson, have been in charge of IU athletics going on 15 years. Neither had a clue as to what they were doing prior to being hired. Go hire an AD from another school, past experience should be a pre-requisite for a job of this degree. How do you run a P5 athletic department if you’ve never had experience running one before?

What is your point? That fans were too “tough” on him on social media? Big effing deal. Then get off social media. That’s part of the culture that has plagued IU for two decades; recruiting mentally fragile kids and pampering them throughout the process.

Auburn has 1 consensus top 50 recruit on their roster. Same can be said for Houston. Their coaching staffs don’t care about recruiting stars, they care about finding the strongest players both mentally and physically. Those programs celebrate their wins on the court while we celebrate recruiting wins. You think Auburn and Houston players give a damn what fans say about them on social media?

I have no idea and neither do you.

Not really sure where else to put this, but am I missing something about the Penn state game on 2/3 that is making it more special than every other home game this year? Group of 5 of us from my fraternity are going down for the game, already got a hotel, but for whatever reason these tickets are not being listed on any site. There are hundreds of tickets listed for like every game except this one that only has 25. Anyone know if there’s something going on that day?

How many times can you replace a coach until no coach wants to coach (here)? Be careful what you wish for.

You keep doing it until you finally get it right.  There is no curse against the program.  The fact is the Indiana administration keeps making abysmal hires.  Mike Davis wasn't even remotely qualified.  Got fired then went to UAB where he was horrible and got fired there too.  Been at tiny D1 schools ever since.  Sampson was a great coach and didn't get fired because of his performance.  Crean got fired then went to Georgia, a huge school with enormous resources and top notch in state recruiting.  Was completely awful and got fired again.  Archie got fired and is now at RI and while it's only been 2 years he's winning 36% of his games.  Will likely get fired in the next couple years there too.

It's 100% the administration.

Don’t need to brave just asking why are still posting after saying you are done?  Why say your done and then post 3 min later?     I don’t give a crap if you are a negative Nelly or pumper of the sunshine or neutral just asking a question why say your done when clearly you are not

You don’t need to worry about what I’m doing. That work for you?

Truth is a program like IU that has a National brand and because they are in a power 5 conference could replace a coach all the time and there are going to be coaches lined up to coach even if they know they run through coaches

Been following IU since 1980. Have seen the end of RMK, Davis, Kelvin, Crean, and Archie.  Just focusing on those post RMK, there are always a few people who order their pitchforks and torches early. With Davis - Miller the early birds ended up being right perhaps in the end and if you look back maybe they were right and maybe they drew a conclusion (that ended up being right) but without sufficient data to really support a decision when they became convinced they were right.

I doubt very many of us are highly confident that we are on the right path. The current season will reveal a lot more data.  If I decide I need a pitchfork I am sure I can order one later.  Those of you that have yours and are absolutely convinced Woody needs to go, Dolson is a terrible AD, the rest of us are fools I ask that you just be patient and chill.  Even if you are right, running around trying to rally a mob in January is not going to do anything productive is it?

As for Dolson, the same kind of applies (not enough data to make a decision). He seemed to get a great guy for IUFB. Pamela Whitten was hired after we hired Woody. Maybe when we have to make another hire she will be able to help Dolson make a great hire. Let’s see.

I am usually in the middle pack to order my mob gear. As I look at some sure fire hires I would call, if I were the AD, many of them had a few meh years to start off.  We may be in that period now with Woody.  Some data that would help determine this would be our play down the stretch.  The play of guys that will be coming back.  Landing some notable recruits.  Remember last year when we beat PU twice.  It was clear then that Woody could get things done that many in the BT could not.  Maybe that was clever coaching, maybe it was having TJD and JHS.   Well, if we land some notable recruits and have a strong core back, then it is not unreasonable to feel better about next year

If The wheels fall all the way off.  We lose most of our games, Liam decommits, we have to settle for low ranked guys I think things will take care of themselves at that time

Wait, this team can't shoot the ball and it's because of the fans?  They don't hustle and it's because of the fans?  They can't rebound, defend the three, play with a high iq...and it's because of the fans?

Interesting take.
