They still like every other team in the B1G has shown they have flaws.    Lost at home to Seton Hall.  Lost to a temple team that just lost to Maryland-Eastern.    I’m high on Rutgers as well but they will struggle on the road jus like most teams.   I personally don’t see much separation between the teams in the B1G.   No elite team just a bunch of good teams with many holes.

Bingo. I can see a bunch of teams finishing 13-7 for a 4 way tie for league champ. I'm sorry, I don't think Purdue is as good as people think. Top 15-20 team yes. Not number one. I think they'll come back down to earth shortly. I think the freshman (who have been impressive) will start to play like freshman.

Next 4 games will be telling

@ Iowa-game Indiana can win if they come ready to play

Northwestern-Should win

@ Penn State- Better than people thought

Wisconsin-Can IU finally beat them? Right now Wisconsin is probably the 2nd best team in the B1G. I'd put us at 3 or 4. Let's see where things are heading into February. Conference season will be 1/2 over with by then. If IU is 7-4 in league play I like their chances to still win the B1G.

Besides Purdue who else has shown you that they are any better than us in the big ten. All the teams have struggled at some point in the non conference schedule.  Even Purdue hasn't played great their last few games.

Purdue will fade some once those freshman guards hit their freshman wall

Is that what has happened to Reneau?  Hit his freshman wall?

Very bizarre what we’ve seen with him. Seems like a confidence thing as much as any else. He’s so much more tentative than he was earlier in the year. Wouldn’t mind seeing a set play/OOB/whatever makes sense alley oop play for him asap and tell him to absolutely destroy the rim when he does it.

He seems to get to be over aggressive before he gets in foul trouble and too tentative once he is.  Biggest thing is that teams are now doubling him without risk because he doesn't pass out of the double team.  He did do it once tonight and Thompson got a layup

I don’t think it’s the wall. Kid is immensely talented, but the signs were there from the start that he’d have to adjust to avoid fouling experienced and/or more talented bigs. I’m sure he’ll get there but yeah, he’s a frosh and here comes the B1G. Also has some work to avoid TO’s

So many thoughts.

1. Our offense is bad. We don’t drive the ball in the half court. We are careless with our passes. JHS is ideal as a pass first guard but he doesn’t beat his guy off the dribble enough to create offense for others. We miss X’s speed at times. Transition is our best offense and we don’t push enough.

2. Defense. My GOODNESS. We’ve been bad. We face an undersized 3 point shooting team and we are over helping on every drive attempt? Can’t a guy get up on a guy and defend him 1 on 1 on this team? Second haLf was admittedly better but it should have been priority #1 on the scouting report. Do these guys talk strategy in the locker room?

3. Decision making often poor. Going to cost us some games.

4. Reneau is on the struggle bus. He needs to settle down. JHS-Clearly isn’t 1nD from a production standpoint. Would like to see him get into driving lanes more. Off-ball movement would be nice. Thompson got a nice bucket on a cut. Didn’t see much else happen off ball.

13 days until Iowa? That’s brutal. Hopefully we get healthy and have a happy holiday. I’m looking for signs…. Bates had a great game.

I'd like to see a change in starting lineup. JHS Bates Kopp maybe Geronimo and TJD. Won't ever happen. Feel like Woody is obligated to play Race.

Other than FT shooting,  I can’t imagine what you’ve seen that would make you want to swap out Race for Geronimo. It would be a downgrade in almost every way.

I think so too, but I think we will be better next year without 3 certain players because it will open the halfcourt with more athletic players.
I'm going to guess you're in the minority here but I'll join that minority. Love TJD and Race and everything thing they've brought to this program but it's time to move on and see what we can do with a more modern offense. Defense though is going to be a struggle it would seem. Still need that rim protector next year and currently we do not project to have that.

Interesting question and probably would depend on each person as to who the top 10 most overrated teams would be.     For me you would have to start with Creighton who entered the year in the top 10 and have lost 6 straight and fell all the way out of top 25.   You could put the whole A-10 in there since they are currently a 1 bid league(St Louis, Dayton) probably the most overrated of the bunch since they were suppose to be competing for an at-large bid.    Notre Dame brought almost everyone back from a tourney team and have disappointed so it seams they were overrated.    Plenty more teams I could think of off the top of my head before I got to IU as one of the most overrated.    Losing to 2 projected #1 seeds away from home  and a road conference game doesn’t mean you are overrated it just means your team isn’t ready to compete for a top 3 seed.    But that just my opinion it might be someone else’s opinion that they are overrated
I'm a negative Nancy and I support this message 2d3538e06f3c17f02964d01a61485406.gif

On #2…yes, IU did not defend the three well.  But at the end of the day they had 55 points.

He's popular with the older female set.  Must be the hair.

I'm not quite on her level of thinking just yet or I just don't admit it. Kind of has the Randy Whitman hair style.

I really do not see us finishing in the top half of the B1G.

Northwestern Michigan Minnesota Nebraska Illinois Penn State Maryland Iowa (KMurray currently worse off than Trayce)

Which of those teams do you think we’ll finish behind, assuming Trayce can play?

Not a second played Banks. Doesn't make a whole lotta sense. He must be absolute garbage in practice to not see a second.

Miller Kopp shoots it better, defends better, and makes fewer mistakes. For instance, last night in a game where he had little impact, Kopp was the one guy who consistently guarded the perimeter well and had seven points on six shots and zero turnovers in 32 minutes. That’s an excellent “off game.” Kopp is so so so much better this year.

Where am I wrong?

Well considering Banks would be playing the 4, Kopp has no impact. And considering the absolute struggled this team had defending the perimeter, you'd figure an athletic 4 would help for a few minutes. But instead let's keep playing with two big men because it's worked marvelous over the last 5 years.

Everything is right besides his perimeter defense. It’s bad. His guys get straight line drives on him whenever he extends.  He doesn’t get blocks or deflections at a rate to makeup.  He’s a smart defender but he’s a deficient defender.

And our teams overhelping defense has been a detriment for 6 years against teams that can actually shoot it.

All that said if the discussion is Banks vs Kopp, I need to see a lot more of Banks to even have an educated guess. Kopp’s offensive threat is one of our only guys that space the floor. And maybe Bates soon.
