Either way he must be getting close. Maybe we see him play next week for the Rutgers or Michigan game. Good point. Home Jersey 1 Quote

HoosierCoop Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 I love X and Race. Pre-injuries we were rolling and would at this point probably have two more wins than our record show. Race's return has come with limitations and slowness that concerns me with getting major minutes. I love the heart and mind, but the body isn't there. However, the emergence of Malik, JG and Banks has been a welcomed sight. I feel spot minutes is what he is being given and I would say that is a safe rotation. X's return is going to be more of a mystery. Recognizing his drive to get back on the floor has me excited yet made me extremely cautious. In the past he has overplayed at times and also been a key component in wins that were extremely huge. This injury has me questioning skill, movement, and condition. At this point, I have to believe he plays behind JHS, Trey, and Scoop. His heart will plead for more minutes but I do not want to ruin our momentum moving into the critical point of our schedule. It's unfortunate for both kids to end their college careers with injuries. ALASKA HOOSIER and Joe_hoopsier 2 Quote
Popular Post Bowhunter Posted February 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 6, 2023 We need Xavier for road games and eventually the tournament. We need another dog guarding the other teams best ball handler and we need help getting transition scoring on the road when it seems the hardest to achieve. lillurk, Schreckbagger, realTomCrean and 6 others 9 Quote

Alford Bailey Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 The article I read does not sound promising. Woodson said he was gonna have a sit down with X to determine if he would play again. Sounds like speed and cutting are still a problem. Quote

Have been hoping he makes it back for the tourney, and maybe he still will (dude is a workhorse fighter), but there haven't been any signs at this point that he's getting back on the floor or what he can do when he does. That's just where we are now. Quote

HoosierFan1994 Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 My mindset when X got hurt was for them to go a little bit above .500 without him in Big Ten Play. IU went 9-6. That's tremendous. I just don't know if it's sustainable. While the Big Ten is deep with tournament teams, only IU and Purdue are getting top 16 consideration. I just don't know if this team without X could beat another top 20 team in the 2nd round or a top 4 team in the Sweet 16. Jalen and Trayce would have to be superman. Somebody HAS to step up. Hearing this news changes my mindset about Bates. I just hope he has a game where he goes off and that can lead to some confidence. He's not done much in the last month.
