Yeah, that's not a great quote lol. Give us 25 minutes of freshman Tamar Bates getting all those wide open looks that Stewart was clanking and maybe the sun would be shining a little this morning.

Or we would be beaching about why Tamar played so much?  lol

Woody had a bad first year. Lots of great thoughts here and I'm just here to vent....
Indiana has the highest ticket prices in the Big Ten. And for the last 7 years, opposing Big Ten teams walk into Assembly Hall like they are on their home floor. Rutgers came out and outscored us in the 2nd half by 10. AT HOME.
I don't see how you can keep fans engaged. I always feel like we should put our banners behind locked doors until someone earns them back. A source of pride that has become an ancient memory disconnected from generations of fans. College kids look at our banners like current residents of Cairo look to the pyramids.
Great post! The program is in serious trouble. Has to be rock bottom? Action needs to be taken immediately by someone in control! What Action? No clue but this is seriously unacceptable so something anything needs to happen.

IU Athletic Dept can make all the tik tok, instagram and twitter posts all they want. The only cure for this malaise is winning. Someone shelled out $10 million to send the last coach packing. I didn't expect a lot from this team this year, but I didn't expect that we'd blow up in Feb again and miss the NCAAs. Teams that are barely registering a pulse are finding their way into the tourney and, well, that describes this program to the tee.

Now, just watch. I'm crying and complaining like a flabby little baby about the sky falling and Indiana goes up and beats Purdue at Mackey next weekend. Miller Kopp channels Andre Patterson and drop 39. TJD hits a three. Woody channels Tom Crean and hangs a banner for that game in AH next year.

Still sour about that game. I just can’t understand the lack of minutes for Geronimo in that second half. Waited until the 5 minute mark and immediately scores and grabs an offensive rebound. Don’t understand the notion of playing the seniors for the sake of playing the seniors. If you really want to honor those guys win the game and make the tournament and they get to play more

If you think we've struggled at home don't look at anything away from home. I believe only penn state doesn't have a better road victory than us in the Big 1.o. Weird how Minny, Nebrasketball, and others are able to pull off a good to great victory on the road but we lay turds all over the court.

I'm fully expecting a mass defection if IU fails to make the tourney again next year. Half-empty Hall and no one caring. Over the last two decades I've watched the Kentuckiana area slowly go from my childhood where IU was once EVERYWHERE (almost outnumbering UofL stuff) to a niche kind of thing that maybe alumni rep and no one else. It's not going to get any better, either. IU will have a small, regional fanbase in the immediate Monroe County area and the usual graduates in Chi, NYC, etc.

Other than that, nothin'.

IU will polish it and put it back out there for the fans to fawn over. The program has been mismanaged for decades and we've continued to show up. We'll fall for it again when player X has improved his game, freshman Y will be all Big 1.o, and player Z will surprised! IF those bothersome fundamentals of basketball and program aren't addressed in the off-season we'll be right back here this time next season.

I think this is still about a decade away from happening. The Boomers will continue to show up, because it's just what they do, and many of them can't see themselves NOT going to games. Once the Boomers start disappearing and there aren't enough millenials/Gen Z to replace them is when we'll start seeing a noticeable difference, IMO.

The Truth.  Nobody was knocking down the door.  One poster even idicated some of the "names" agents where contacted and express no interest.  It was Woody, or the kid who coaches the FIJI intermural team.

What kind of offense do the Fiji's run?

I'm not sure which is worse the game last night or taking my dog to the vet this morning to find out he has an anal infection. At least the infection can be cured with antibiotics.

This stat just blows me away

Parker Stewart (2-9) and Miller Kopp (1-7) were a combined 3-for-16 from the field in a combined 65 minutes. Major factor.

Indiana’s primary shooters/guards — Xavier Johnson 5-for-11, Miller Kopp 1-for-7, Parker Stewart 2-for-9, Rob Phinisee 1-for-4, Tamar Bates 0-for-1 — shot a combined 9-for-32. That’s 28 percent.

Just not sure why Kopp & Stewart got so many minutes. Not sad that they probably won't be back

I love Race but he makes a lot of losing plays towards the end of the game.

TJD is a great player but he needs great players around him to be successful.

A lot of mistakes were made this season and a lot of changes need to be made.

To put it in the context of your evening, it was the basketball equivalent of an anal infection.

Well said. Does no one want IU if we're paying $7m a year and have facilities and fantastic administration? Or does no one want IU getting paid average salary, poor facilities, bad sponsorship, and an inept administration?

Just to correct this, IU wasn't paying any coach 7 million a year. IU was going to pay 3.5-4 million a year and a booster was going to pay the rest. That was for Stevens only. Now could the booster have been talked into paying that for another top coach, maybe but from speaking to agents there wasn't anyone else interested to pay that much. That is why Woodson was "the only one" interviewed & is only getting 3.5 a season.

I don't think Trayce needs to be surrounded by great players to be successfuly. Trayce needs leaders around him. He needs another great player or two. The entire program needs players that have defined roles and star in that role. We don't have that. Leadership101 includes planning and defining roles, we failed miserable.

Kopp is kind of a shooter that was told he could expand his game here. What is the impact of his expanded game? How did that impact winning?

Race is a tweener that doesn't pair well with Trayce in the modern game. What was the plan to impact winning?

P Stew is/was a shooter that didn't have enough run for him most of the season. He's gotten more shots recently but shooting at a horrendous percentage. What was the plan to impact winning?

X has some tools to lead. How was that groomed to impact winning this season? He's played better recently but we needed that at the beginning of the season.

Trayce is what he is at this point in his career. A jumper and counter moves would have been fantastic but players playing their role would have impacted winning more.

I agree a lot of mistakes were made this season and even more were made last summer. We need a much better off-season to impact winning next season.

Sorry if discussed already but I was at last night's game and haven't read thru thread. What's everyone's opinion on why we go into limp mode every game at the 4 minute mark. We just completely shut down. Zero movement and just look lost. How can we play better all game until the last stretch? I get that these guys may not know how to win and get flustered but why can't they just keep doing what got them the lead. And an even BIGGER question for me is why can't the coaching staff get them to see they are doing this and convey to them to just keep doing what got them the lead? At one point Rutgers went zone and we just literally stood in one place like we were in a video game and someone paused it. Baffling to me.
