HoosierAloha Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Don't be obtuse. It's not legal to give players "bags of cash". I just can't had TJD 20k tomorrow. That's not legal. Podcasts, sponsorships, whatever have to give fair market value. Can't just give money for the sake of giving money. What’s fair market value for a game of 1v1 with TJD? How much was Kareem making as a walk-on? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

If Indiana wanted to push their donors to support the players vs the school I don’t think that would be hard to do, I just don’t see them doing that. if they get a million a year from Ken Nunn, if the school said, hey, can you give us $500k and offer speaking engagements etc for players with your clients for the remaining $500k, I doubt he would say no. I would really like to know what happened leading up to the suspension. Not the action that caused the suspension but all the missteps before that. You don't just sneak out after curfew, get caught, and get suspended. There is more to that story than we'll probably every know. I have my theories as to why we're still struggling with culture and fundamentals. No one knows the details. And honestly, although we might want to know, I think it’s good that those things are kept in house as much as possible. HoosierHoops1 1 Quote

That’s just not the point. The point is whether suspending all 5 for what was a minor rules violation in a key game was excessive and poorly thought out. To me it was, to you it wasn’t— that’s ok. And i watched the game, we would’ve won with the missing 5 players. if you want to spin it, how about giving examples of college teams who went into a game missing 5 contributing players, including their starting — really only - point guard and won? Good hunting. Or, how did the Galloway point guard conversation go? Yeah, of course missing all 5 made it much less likely we’d win Don’t think that throwing the word ‘minor’ in front of ‘rules violation’ repeatedly is making your point. It’s just a deflective tactic. Quote

Coaches often run players etc for rules violations, they don’t often sit 5 players for what was a relatively minor team rules violation. i said I believe in Woodson long term, but i think this was just a bad, stubborn decision, and an unnecessarily costly one. There is that word again ….”minor”. Quote

Wait until he gets his own guys.” We heard that over and over again. 6 of our 13 scholarship players never played a minute for Archie, but the offense is probably worse than it was last season. The flawed roster isn’t the only problem we’ve had this year. Woody has exacerbated the flawed roster with his poor rotations and his offensive game plan. The team is absolutely talented enough to be a tournament lock. Of those 6, 4 of them all played for a flawed program and they have never sniffed the NCAA tournament. Besides the two freshman, what we have is the island of misfits that all played for other college coaches before CMW. My only expectation for this team this because it was a flawed roster was just to make the NCAA tournament. We were firmly in until this recent skid, partly because of the coaching staff and partly because of the players. Plenty of blame to go around but I say we let the season play out. Also, no matter the outcome of this season, let’s also see what adjustments are made during the offseason and beyond. This is year 1 of the CMW era, we all should take a step back and wait until it’s complete before we start calling for his head! Quote

I would think Woody would be the first to tell any of us that he has a lot to learn about the college game. I picture those 3 sitting down and evaluate Woodson’s 1st year and what he needs to work on to improve. We all knew weren’t getting a complete and experienced college coach but the candidates were few and Dolson felt that Woodson was the best choice. Good, bad or indifferent he is our coach and I hope like heck he succeeds because that will make it better for the next guy. Stuhoo, RaceToTheTop, tkbbn and 1 other 4 Quote
