Playing for Coach Schiano is very attractive to student-athletes.  He's got NFL experience and he's back home.  They're going to be competitive.  Bottom line, the Big Ten East is a beast of a division.  I would argue it's the toughest division on the nation.  But SEC folk would beg to differ, and rightfully so.  I'm just a biased fool on the internet in the grand scheme of things.

But it seems the rankings like quantity over quality. We don’t have as many players as Rutgers signed but have higher ranked players.

I’ve found different services rank different ways. I prefer the average per recruit which better compares apples to apples vs the sum of all recruits which will tend to favor the quantity over quality.

We are recruiting better than I ever dreamed could happen at IU.  TA is the man!!!  I’ve read more about football  recruiting this year than the past multi-decades put together. Really exciting.

That being said, both Rivals and Scout have Rutgers with a slightly (very slightly) higher average ranking per player than us. In no way does that detract from the unbelievable class we are landing but just pointing out that  Rutgers ranking isn’t just because of quantity. We need a couple of doormats in the East but unfortunately Schiano might not be co-operating :).

I wonder how much higher a commitment from Bailey would have pushed our class ranking?  That's a bummer as we seemed to be in a good spot with him and still need to add a QB through one means or another.

I wondered the same.  So I punched him in the class calculator on 247 and according to it, it wouldn't have made any bump in rank but it would have jumped up the pts from 218.82 to 224.49.

Food for thought:
If you look at the rankings on both Rivals and 247 schools like LSU, Clemson, Oklahoma and Stanford are ranked below IUFB. So I'm thinking this current ranking will change because the recruiting process isn't finished and I'm sure IUFB will be moving around. Hopefully up and not down. Also, the transfer portal is a constant revolving door and that also changes a team's 'ranking' by the start of the season. But regardless it's a solid recruiting class nonetheless.
