LamarCheeks Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Too bad we couldn't have picked up someone, anyone who can possibly contribute, from the portal who was looking to play one year -- to fill out the roster. If Newton doesn't play, that puts us two scholarship players down. Artie86, Crimson and Cream and Hornsby 3 Quote

Hornsby Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Dang not using that extra scholarship is mind blowing now.I said that last summer and got trashedI was told Gunn, banks, and cupps were all ready for big minutes so a grad transfer would not come here. The deluions of some every single summer are mind-blowing. This is 100% on woodson.Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk Quote

Seeing IU's 3-point defense in action, is it really surprising that Gunn looked good practicing against that? ALASKA HOOSIER, ElectricBoogaloo, moyemayhem and 1 other 1 3 Quote

Some posters seriously said no grad transfer will come her because they would have to sit behind trey, gunn, banks, and cupps. Those posters have gone dead silent now on that subject. Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk What gets me is that during the season people bemoan lack of talent/depth at a certain position. Then in the offseason when that doesn't get addressed due to missing on players or the coaching staff not prioritizing that position, it's because the returning players were too good and possible replacements were scared off. Happens every year and it never makes sense. Especially when other teams (not just Duke, Kentucky, Kansas) are landing players at positions where they already have talent that is better than IU's while some schools like Duke are stacking talent.' I see that in the football recruiting threads too. Some are saying our chances at landing Tyler Cherry (4* highly rated QB) aren't very good because we just landed Mendoza (unranked QB). What? Really? Might not land him but it won't be because of Mendoza. Hornsby 1 Quote

Hornsby Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 This has been a very long term injury. Obviously something unusual to the point that I wonder if he will ever be able to play. I certainly hope he can, but I think he is a long way from seeing the court. On top of that, he has missed so much in terms of skill development. Although, he looks like he is no stranger to the weight room.At this point I would not be shocked if he never plays a game at iu. He will have missed two full seasons.Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk cthomas 1 Quote

He takes the worst shots in the flow of the offense. Imo, he doesn’t look to drive enough with his length. He should be more like Troy Williams in his cutting and driving although more controlled I’d hope. His size/skillset is tantalizing as a coach but the mental seems to be lacking. Also makes most plays/shots more difficult than necessary. Relative to Jakai. I watched a couple of his HS games. He was great because he was very athletic. Solid mid-range game indicates he can shoot a little but this kind of a lengthy injury is particularly alarming for a guy that uses athleticism as his main weapon. Have also seen one of my favorite young Hoosiers fracture both knees and never be the same player, so unfortunate. Here’s to hoping his body bounces back well. lillurk 1 Quote
