Evariste Galois Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Justin Smith looks greatly improved... maybe he can help players improve
ap2345 Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Well that seems credible. Then again you never know with burner accounts these days.
8bucks Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Those late shots Arkansas took were questionable but otherwise they played well and obviously won

Sometimes they go with him as the only post. Archie had him catching the ball around the 3 point line constantly. They also seem to get up and down the floor more. That is his strength. HoosierHoopster Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 (edited) Story from USA Today yesterday. Smith takes a not so subtle jab at CAM lol. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/tourney/2021/03/21/arkansas-eric-musselman-should-be-new-indiana-mens-basketball-coach/4793839001/ Musselman is "a coach that allows you the freedom, who allows you to play basketball," he added. "The main thing, honestly, is just confidence. I think the way we prepare and we practice allows all of us as individuals to have confidence." Kind of wondering why Musselman isn't getting a little more pub here. Edited March 22, 2021 by HoosierHoopster cybergates and FWHoosier84 2

Kind of wondering why Musselman isn't getting a little more pub here. I've mostly mentioned and some others have mentioned that he gives CTC vibes. Frankly though, I don't see Arkansas letting him leave. He's built a storied basketball program back up. Word is he wants back in the NBA eventually. He's at a basketball school in a sense, might as well stay there until the Kings call him.

Not sure if this is 'selling' anything but his first HC gig he coached a player by the name of Keith Smart. They went on to finish 1st in their division and advanced to the CBA finals. His only losing seasons were while in the NBA; two seasons at Golden State and 1 season at Sacramento. Every other place he's coached, which is a lot, he's won. Final pitch, he's better than Archie? cybergates 1

Has won everywhere he has been except a couple of NBA stints. Has a big personality that doesn't shy from the limelight. Players seem to like playing for him and his team seems competent and fundamentally sound. Has built programs quickly. Made Justin Smith a contributor to a NCAA winning team. Draw-backs: might want to return to the NBA long-term, so possibly not a lifer. Seems destined to have some gaffs and embarrassments with his personality. Also not a recognizable name to the average fan/recruit. thebigweave, HoosierDYT, lillurk and 1 other 4

Unexpectedflash Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 If Musselman left us for the NBA that means he’d be extremely successful here at least for a few years. I’d take that. He’ll be 57 by the time next season starts. I don’t know how many more opportunities he’ll get for the NBA. Hardwood83, IUBBx5Banners, HoosierHoopster and 1 other 4
Lebowski Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 The thing that intrigues me the most about Musselman is that he was born into basketball. He's got a proven wealth of knowledge and experience that translates into development and motivation from his players. I like his coaching style the most and in my opinion, he'd turn around the program and beat PU the first season. However, I don't really care who gets hired. Just so long as IUBB starts winning and playing in March. Alford Bailey, HoosierHoopster, thebigweave and 3 others 6
IUc2016 Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 We waiting until he loses to ORU or Baylor this weekend? I am hoping so. He would bring a lot of juice back into the program and a lot of talent. Plus other BIG team's fans would HATE him. I would love that. Give this man a raise! Hardwood83 1

IUc2016 Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 He ain’t leaving Arkansas. Arkansas has $$$$$$Maybe. But Arkansas basketball isn’t Indiana basketball. He strikes be as the type of person who wants to be in the spotlight, Arkansas basketball doesn’t give him nearly the opportunity to do that like Indiana does. Im sure he’s a very nice guy, the kids like him by the looks of it. But we’ll see what they do this week.
