IU made Stevens an offer that only somebody with no interest in returning to college could refuse. And guess what?.....He refused.

I'm not debating that at all. I am making the point he's still a very high premier target/candidate even if he isn't interested.

If he had no interest why did he meet with them in secret so many times? There is no reason to rehash this but there was interest

Likely to put to rest the idea of him ever coaching Indiana or in college again. If he wanted the Indiana job he'd have taken the $70 million and subsequently the job. Indiana threw the largest number possible at him and he said, "No thanks".

If Indiana thought there was even a chance he'd consider, they would have come up with the number needed in a counter-offer.

Once again you have no idea what you are talking about.

You don't meet in person, in secret, to say "no"

Think we can all agree no need to rehash this though

Understood.

If IU wants to make it a point to at least be told no by Brad Stevens first before actually targeting a real candidate every single time the job becomes open, so be it. It's a waste of time however.

He's expressed ZERO interest in returning to this level of basketball. He was done the second he left 10 years ago. Brad Stevens to Indiana is more than a pipe dream at this point. He's not a realistic candidate.

Neither is Beard but you and others keep calling for him to get hired.

So Stevens met with us multiple times "to put to rest the idea of him ever coaching Indiana or in college again"? Come on you know he is not going to waste his own or family's time like that. He chose Celtics FO offer, which probably does close the door. But meeting with someone more than once for a job you are not interested in seems asinine, and Stevens doesn't strike me as that.

In secret several times.

If Brad Stevens met with IU "in secret several times" and there was a number he wrote down and IU couldn't get to that number, the entire athletic administration needs to be burned to the ground.

In reality, Brad Stevens turned down an offer that only somebody who had no interest in the job could refuse.

True. Brad Stevens denies he even received an offer.

I believe it was Woj who broke the news that IU was prepared to make $70 million/10 year offer.
