He was also back in Greene County at Christmas this year. So there have been chances for them to talk. I'm 100% sure that the Dusty May to Scott Dolson communication pipeline is well established. Dusty May's top assistant Todd Abernethy: "C'mon Dusty! Make it happen!!" and ... "C'mon dad! Make it happen!!" When assistant coach Todd Abernethy is watching his Florida Atlantic University Owls go through their pre-game paces and hears the word “Hickory” from the distance, he knows his father is in the arena. The man is just not any dad. He is Tom Abernethy, South Bend native and starting forward for the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers, college basketball’s last undefeated men’s champions. “Hickory,” as in the Hickory Huskers of "Hoosiers" movie fame, is the predetermined code that father and son have worked out to announce his presence. Dad tries to catch as many FAU games as he can, and why not? Chris007, str8baller, Class of '66 Old Fart and 3 others 5 1
Uspshoosier Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Woody isn’t passing up a trip to the Bahamas on the school’s dime. Also should be a good selling point to transfer portal wings and guards. We will be playing in the Battle for Atlantis. That will especially be appealing to a 5th year seniors that only has 1 year Ngw7183, WayneFleekHoosier, Demo and 1 other 4

Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 If you're Dolson, gotta grow a pair and hand a blank check to Lloyd's agent, Drew's agent, Donovan's agent and ask "what will it take" and work from there. Jesus - So you're telling me that Tom Crean won 8 BT games in 3 years at IU. Then IU didn't make the move on Stevens because of the Zeller recruitment, based purely on one recruit, and then gave him a $10M buyout the following year for making it to a S16? Was there anyone else that was saying Creans S16 years were more of a false positive and ceiling of his potential and that this was a bad idea? Kentuckysucks 1

We're talking about something over a decade ago at this point. And no reason to believe that if Stevens had wound up here, he wouldn't have just left when the NBA came calling anyway. So at best he'd have probably gotten things rolling, reached a similar level of success at Butler (maybe 1 FF or championship game appearance) then left. OBVIOUSLY it would be great to have done that, but it's all fantasy, so why get upset wondering about the what ifs? It's a new situation in 2024. Lot of season left. Lot of time for circumstances to change. We'll see! woodenshoemanHoosierfan, Ngw7183, Stuhoo and 2 others 5

Anyway, I genuinely don't think Woodson believes this one is on him besides the maybe the Guard situation. And that is part of my concern, is knowing what type of talent and scheme it takes to build a top 10 team. I think a lot of the staff thought they had top 10 talent this year. Agree, Woodson won't be fired, ......he will leave/retire before it gets too hot. He originally signed a deal for six years and said he was hoping to coach till he was 75. He's definitely not the kind of guy to wear out his welcome. Chris007 1

You forgot to add that we paid a $10M buyout to fire Archie and then hired a guy who is now performing far worse in year 3 than Archie did in year 3. Year's 1 and 2 were all Trayce. Heck, Even I could see it with improvement from X and Galloway. A lot of this (most of this?) IS on Woodson. Roster construct is an embarrassment. In the pressers he throws players under the bus and talks constantly about "we gotta get better" and "gotta get 'em over the hump", but whatever hump they're trying to get over, Woody kills the efforts with the crappy substitution patterns and schemes... He's regularly out-coached game in and game out... and his arrogance isn't doing him any favors with comments like "I'm not gonna sit here and answer questions from the fans or you...". That attitude might work if he was winning... but he's not... and when he loses, he loses big time... and we're getting into the tough part of the schedule... it's only gonna get worse... @ Purdue, @ Illinois, vs Iowa, 2 against Wisconsin... Hope he's got a magical rabbit in his hat. EDIT: Corrected upcoming schedule Edited January 18, 2024 by AZ Hoosier
