He did. Some friends and I had an encounter with him (Andrae Patterson was with him) in a bar in mid 90s. Lots of alcohol involved and he was hitting on a friends girlfriend big time. We ended up pulling our friend out of the bar before it escalated too far. It was probably a really good thing for our friend that we did ha.

Also I can never actually work again until we have our HC. I put in a solid 6 hours and miss umpteen pages of stuff. How do I tell my CMO (an Illinois grad/fan) I need the rest of the week off for this?

This one is also tough for me. If Matta is healthy enough then it's a no brainer but his back worries me. My issue with Beilein is he'd be a band-aid that would have to be removed in 5-7 years and then there would be no guarantee his successor could maintain the trajectory. I'd still go with Matta because I believe he could get an incredible staff that could help minimize his health problems i.e. on the recruiting trail, practices etc.

Oats vs Musselman

I haven't followed either one of them closely enough to make an informed call but my gut says Oats would be the better fit/hire but Musselman would be more likely. 

Beard vs. Drew

Beard easily, I think his style of play fits IU and the BIG better and he's accomplished more with less. Drew has had more recruiting success but Waco is a much easier sell than Lubbock and I doubt he would be able to recruit the same way at IU as he does at Baylor... especially if many of the same people are still in the compliance department that were here during the Sampson tenure. I see Drew as Sampson 2.0 and he ranks about as high as Alford on the list of guys I don't want to see coaching at IU. 

Matta vs. Beilein

Beilein's age is the only thing making this much of a decision. IMO, Matta needed more talent to win than Beilein did and while he can probably get that talent easily at IU, I don't like being quite so dependent on getting top tier talent all of the time. I think Beilein is the better coach but Matta, if healthy and committed,  would be the better fit.

I’m surprised anyone works this weekend anyways.     I haven’t worked champ week or first week of the tourney ever.  These 2 weeks are always 2 of my vacation weeks
