So do I. Mine just want to win.

Wanting to win is a given fit HS recruits the original question which would influence a recruit more ?

D2 HC wins and title or Power conference assistant wins , titles , coaching with the greatest college football coach in the history of the game and having recruited and coached future NFL draft picks and Hall of famers on TOP of being a successful title winning D2 HC .

Again The Cig and McCollum comparison isn’t even apples to oranges.

it’s a beautiful day finally kids are about to be home from school you can pick some else to argue with till tomorrow about 7:30 AM see you then !

This is what I mean man, Chris comes in and just has a lil somethin to say and the Brad train is back rollin. Let's ride!

If we're still interviewing candidates, wouldn't that mean the opposite of having Stevens locked up...just a thought...

Lol yes someone like me.  I'm AD. I'm SD.

Those coaches haven't accomplished half of what McCollum has.

I've not once stated I know thay McCollum is separate from the midmajor bust group, lord.

You literally did just that in the post I was responding to.

Cronin’s floor is way higher. Otoh, questions about his personality and offense may make it seem like his ceiling is below what IU ultimately wants. McCollum is the exact other end of that spectrum. Collins probably is somewhere in the middle.

If those candidates are on  the same “level” for Dolson to choose from a lot of it may boil down to how risk tolerant he is and what the behind the scenes politics look like.

Why is McCollum’s ceiling higher, though? Cronin is in his sixth season at UCLA. It’s a comparable job to IU in some ways. The tournament got canceled his first season. He went to the sweet 16 each of the next three seasons, including a trip to the final 4. Last year was a bad year in large part to UCLA’s NIL issues. This year he finished 13-7 in the same conference we’re in. If we put Cronin’s ceiling at sweet 16s and competing for conference championships, what evidence at this point to say that McCollum has a higher ceiling than that other than his “ceiling” being a total unknown?

He's a calculated guy. He had a lot of offeres to move up. He was hot after the 38-0 D2 champion and stayed. Again, jmo, but I think he'll build Drake in his own image and move to a spot of his choice with several of his own players. He doesn't seem to be in hurry to rush things.

Could be but some of those opportunities could have been D1 but not really good options.  Like maybe IPFW or some other place where winning was going to be hard.  D2 to D1 is not a common pathway to great places and maybe his D2 gig was a great fit.  If he is calculated, seeing as how we brought in a confident former D2 coach recently who did really well should be part of that calculation.  I bet a conversation with Cig who could let him know how Scott and Pam kept promises made, gave him the support to win and how when you win here things are great.

He can also address whether the other parts of the job are too much or not that big a deal.

None of those guys even won their conference before getting big ten jobs.

Archie won the A10 twice, no? With his own players even. Seemed to be on the rise.
