" Well sorry coach that other program has produced Multiple NBA draft picks."

I know Woodson is a lazy recruiter BUT he was a HC in the NBA and coached guys like Josh Smith and Carmelo Anthony. And produced draft picks in TJD and JHS. Transfer Portal recruits and prep kids take that into consideration in addition to the money. McCollum won't have that.

That's when you mention Ananoby and Oladipo and show them this.

That should alleviate any concerns.

Correct, not coached against those guys.

I don't necessarily believe the bold, he has guys on his roster that would really help us now. If we had our roster plus his PG, mercy.

And yes, 30 sec shot clock does, the pace of play is overblown.

Stirtz is a nice player no question. To think he'd be a superstar in the B10 is wishful thinking at best.

Name the last "blueblood" program or any program that has convinced a coach to willingly leave his current top 25 team to take over their program.  The only one I can think of is Roy Williams and that was a dream job situation.  All this Few, Stevens,Pearl talk is most likely just silly dreaming. But McCollum, McDermott and the like type hires would not be a woe is me the sky is falling situation, well other than for the eeyores of this world.

And how does he go about hiring an Elite Recruiter? are there a ton of those guys in the D2 coaching circles/ ranks ? The ones in power conference coaching right now are they gonna leave their power conference current assistants job to come work for a D2 guy ?

Have you never known any coaches? Even high school coaches have relationships with D1 coaches.

I guarantee you that McCollum has relationships with all sorts of head coaches and assistant coaches, and not just D2 coaches. It's not a large fraternity and he's been involved in coaching for like 15 years.

Just because he's spent a lot of D2 doesn't mean that he only has contacts with D2 coaches. That's just silly...

There are quite a few people on here that think short, Stevens, Pearl, Drew that IU will have failed. Well maybe it's not quite a few, just a couple boisterous negative nellys
Well I do recall someone early on saying dolson had 1a and 1b and we would not get past 1b. I assume he meant stevens and may.

Bet money Trent Sisley dips Mom and Pops didn't send him to Florida his senior year to play for a D2 coach that doesn't believe in shooting 3's and thinks fast breaks are pointless. Don't care how big and IU fan he is.
And that's all fine and good so you think you and everyone else in the fan base are gonna be ok with 14-17, 16-15, 17-14? Again ORAL ROBERTS just fired their coach after a TWO season. NC STATE just fired their coach a year after a final four run. Rodney Terry at Texas is on the hot seat after and Elite Eight and 2nd round seasons because Texas is on the wrong side of the bubble............
He better win 23 + game in year 2  or were not back here in 2029 here back here in 2027
a) hope this is all a pointless exercise that's filling the void and the Big time candidate is named in 2 weeks
b) if it is D2 wonder boy hope I'm wrong and were set for the next 20 years just don't see it and that's the last I'll say about McCollum and we will see how it all plays out which is fair IMO

Doubt this at all. Talk to Dad yesterday and ask who the next coach was since they were up there this weekend. He said no clue and no one will know because Dolson said he’s keeping it very close. He then went and said if he had to guess beard or McCollum or someone like that. Trents dad is a former coach he gets it. Trent is here to stay unless something insane happens. I can tell you he would love it if beard were hired.

huh? no no.... we just did "the week's worth of film" literally, we had a week off before Purdue and we quite literally, stuffed them into a locker.

My original point was that all of those staffs would only need a weeks worth of film (A couple of games) to find a way to shut down wonder boys unique and revolutionary offense that would apparently even make James Naismith blush.

That’s right then it moved to Stevens and Drew and wouldn’t get past that.  Now we’re on Stevens with  backup plan McCollum.

sure lol

It only took a week to shut down some allegedly elite coach in the B1G, Matt Painter.

All of the conversations that we've been having about McCollum and how he would do next year and what kind of adjustments he would need to make in his coaching just shows how well Dusty did this year.

Yes, Michigan is fading a bit, but he's done an amazing job. He had to cobble together a roster on the fly. He had a major step-up in competition and he still finished top 5 in a major conference.

I think Dusty proved that IU needs a guy who can really coach. An Xs and Os guy. If you have somebody like that, they can win from the start. That's what IU has been missing with every hire since RMK (with the obvious exception of Sampson).

I would have no problem getting a coach who would have to grow into the job a bit if I knew that IU's coach wouldn't be the worse coach on the floor every night. I wonder what that feels like? LOL
