I think this is more the point that was being made. As you said previously it can be more of a disqualifying data point.

That’s how I’ve been looking at it. I just don’t think it disqualifies too many likely candidates, if any, that are controversial. OTOH….Otzelberger would be out. Tommy Llyod would be out. McCasland would be out.

Also, Scott Drew was like 5th or 6th on valpos list in his only season after being left a handful of starters from a really good team his dad had the year before. I don’t think anyone foresaw him doing what he did at Baylor.  But he qualifies based on his time at Baylor.

Is the stat that was referred to the all time win leader at a school, or the single season most wins at a school?

Are you sure TJ O would be out? He HAD the record at SDSU... 2nd best season at Iowa State, as well, now.

I would say Baylor's AD probably did.

Maynard's Coaching Hotboard:

Handicap Rankings and Rationale
(% chance he ends up at IU)
  • 1. Dusty May (25%): Best blend of fit, youth, and IU connection. His recent ascent and Michigan’s untested loyalty make him the frontrunner among realistic hires.
  • 2. Chris Holtmann (20%): Safest high-odds pick—available, experienced, and Big Ten-ready. Lacks May’s ceiling but minimizes risk.
  • 3. T.J. Otzelberger (18%): Rising star with Midwest grit; IU’s resources could unlock his peak. Buyout and ISU success temper odds slightly.
  • 4. Mick Cronin (15%): Proven winner with a chip on his shoulder. Higher odds than Donovan due to college proximity, though UCLA’s grip is tight.
  • 5. Billy Donovan (8%): Highest upside but lowest plausibility among this top tier. A splash hire if IU swings big and he bites.

Jerry as good as he is sometimes, has swung and missed on other coaching searches. I’ll be the first to apologize if I’m wrong, but it doesn’t feel right again this time.

That is fair, no insider has been 100%. Things change sometimes so fair point, I just feel Jerry is batting a very high percentage usually.

When does Rabby typically put out his hot boards?

He said he was putting it out today. Claims he pushed it back because IU played on Saturday and want to "Give it the coverage it deserves" as if he suddenly cares about this team (trust me he hasn't since the Bahamas unless its criticism of Woodson)

Claims there is some "new stuff but nothing major" which is his new catch-phrase.

I’m assuming it’s your last job. If it is any job you’ll just bring in a bunch more candidates.

....better yet. Ozzy's.......

I could be right, I could be wrong
It hurts so bad it's been so long
Mama, I'm coming home
Selfish love yeah we're both alone
The ride before the fall, yeah
But I'm gonna take this heart of stone
I just got to have it all
I've seen your face a hundred times
Everyday we've been apart
And I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause mama, mama, I'm coming home
I'm coming home.

Go IU!
