Sir, I appreciate the list. But….cmon

Why do people act this way?

This list has

1. One of the frontrunners for NCOY (May)

2. A guy whose had Iowa State a top 5 team in the country back to back years (Otzelberger)

3. A coach who has made the tournament 15/16 years and has a .700 winning % in a P5 conference (Cronin)

4. A longshot that has won multiple NCAAT (Donovan)

5. An experienced but average coach in Chris Holtmann

If those are indeed the 5 candidates, Dolson will have done an excellent job.

Who do you expect IU to hire lol?

TJ O is in because of his win record at SDSU.

Ok. Steve Alford is in based on his New Mexico stint then.

I think that is too wide a net to cast for the stat to be meaningful but one can use it however they like.

I don't really see that it's that wide of a net, I'm just saying TJ O would be on the list.

And Cronin wouldn't be, so that's a great thing!

Another set of coaching candidates floated. Pertaining to this section, there is reference made to - hindsight being what it is - the time to hire Alford would have been in the aftermath of the Mike Davis situation. Would have given him a chance, and also averted the self-inflicted Sampson disaster.

My guess is that if you took a poll, less than 50 percent of people here actually think Brad will be the next coach. Probably we'll under 50 percent, in fact.

Brad is the most fun coach to discuss. But that doesn't mean a majority of the board actually thinks he'll be the guy. Even Chris has said (at times, at least) that if forced to guess he doesn't think it'll be Brad.

And here I thought we were all friends...

I looked at hires in the big ten over the last decade, paid attention to parameters like age, winning %, tournament success, conference titles, aked an AI software to list the coaches currently in college basketball who fit the trends, eliminated coaches who were not going to be hired by IU, and then made the list.  It isn't the group I would put up if I was just emotionally making a decision.  It could be extremely wrong.  However, there aren't a ton of people trying to put these together for discussion.

The post would have been much better received if I had just put Brad Stevens 1 through 10.  Most people want a hotboard that fills their emotional needs.

Have those fans had any remorse or self reflection for running Turgeon out to get worse results from Willard? I’ve always wondered that. (Not equating this to IU—Woodson has to go, though I guess you could draw a parallel to Crean.)

Willard is clearly a good coach, having been the only guy who could make Hall relevant over the last couple of decades. And in 2 of his first 3 years at Maryland, he’s had top 25 teams in Pom. So I don’t think it’s fair to say he’s worse right now.

still, yeah, my view is Turgeon was run out way too quickly and he’s a much better coach than the casual fan realizes. It’s really not easy to go 7-8 seasons in a row without a single bad team. That takes coaching chops. Dolson seems to get that.

Stop trying to make Turgeon happen, it's not going to happen.

Two of Turgeon's last four years were worse than Mike Woodson's worst year.

So yeah - it's pretty difficult to go 7-8 seasons without a single bad team. Sadly, the Turg was not the guy who accomplished that task.
