"We"? There is no "we" as far as having an opinion on Stevens one way or another. Some people believe he'll be the next coach, some people believe that IU at least has a chance, and others believe he's not a legitimate possibility.

so multiple people having the same opinion on say Stevens cannot be considered "we"?

I guess Brownell did do it this year

Brownell will most likely set it again this year. But again…depending on what data set you use and whether or not ties count, he already has it at Clemson.

Billy Gillispie had it at A&M when he was hired at UK. And Turgereon would’ve been second (just like Coach K and Hurley!!) when he left for Maryland. Shaka had it at TCU when he left for, and subsequently flamed out at, Texas.

Just not a great stat for predictive value, imo. Otoh, if you’re candidate can’t muster up the best season in history at a lower school (or second best, at least) it seems like there won’t be any championships in your future. With that said, Crean was second on marquettes list when he left for Indiana.

You seemed to be using "we" as an all-encompassing opinion of the board. There is not one of those.

I think this is more the point that was being made. As you said previously it can be more of a disqualifying data point.

FWIW Brownell signed an extension last summer, he makes 3.5 with set raises. I seriously doubt we would give someone like BB a raise to leave. His current contract would have him in the upper half of the B1G as it stands. My guess is he is angling for more NIL funding for his program, not any actual desire to leave.

He has minimal pressure, Clemson is an absolutely gorgeous area to live with extremely low cost of living and nice lakes, nice weather, and has decent support for a non-basketball school. The Clemson campus reminds me of Bloomington more than any campus I have visited, but with the added advantage of mountains and mild winter. Great little town. I love Btown, and there are almost no college towns I would put ahead of it but Clemson is one of them in terms of livability. I would honestly be pretty surprised if he really wants to leave all that for IU. Smells like agent smoke to me. JMO

I can't speak to whether or not Brownell will be offered (doubt it) or if he would take it but I absolutely agree with you on the area. I live 20 minutes from campus and my family and I love it here. Yes, Clemson's campus reminds me a lot of Bloomington and we love walking with our dogs and kids and stopping for '55 Exchange ice cream...there's no Mother Bears but it definitely has a lot going for it!

he won't get me! Are we seriously still on the Stevens to IU train AGAIN?  Weren't we due news shortly after the NBA All Star game regarding mister Stevens?  We all but certain got a rash of he's not coming and onto the next if I recall.  At this rate, IF and I am not certain why I am even considering putting this sentence in but here I am doing so IF Stevens becomes our HC, the expectations will be even higher if he becomes the HC then say any other individual not named Stevens how soon before our intense fan base runs him off if he delivers subpar or results similar to Woody?

That’s how I’ve been looking at it. I just don’t think it disqualifies too many likely candidates, if any, that are controversial. OTOH….Otzelberger would be out. Tommy Llyod would be out. McCasland would be out.

Also, Scott Drew was like 5th or 6th on valpos list in his only season after being left a handful of starters from a really good team his dad had the year before. I don’t think anyone foresaw him doing what he did at Baylor.  But he qualifies based on his time at Baylor.

Is the stat that was referred to the all time win leader at a school, or the single season most wins at a school?

Are you sure TJ O would be out? He HAD the record at SDSU... 2nd best season at Iowa State, as well, now.

I would say Baylor's AD probably did.
