Boy, you woke up trying to pee in everyone's Cheerios this morning. I expect it from some but not you. Haha. You're getting as grouchy as old fart.

Stu has been more edgy in this search than in prior ones.  I kind of like it except he is not fully on the Steven train this time, yet..

Great additional point!

Everything I posted about reasons for secrecy can absolutely signify that Scott already has his guy.

I am purely explaining the need for secrecy; because that need for secrecy could mean that he has his guy, or that he does not yet.

Agreed, he 100% either has his guy or he doesn't. ;)

And that's why the most valuable sources of chatter might not be from the IU side of things.

Amirite, @BGleas?

At least one trusted poster has indicated he’s heard things from the other side. Not gonna tag him but some of you have seen it.

I’m fully expecting someone new to pop in sometime after lunch with a new completely bonkers option. My money has been on someone pushing Shrewsberry for a few days, just waiting for that to come to fruition. Surprised it’s taken so long to be honest. Expecting big things from the Friday news dump.

@Stuhoo was the conductor of the Shrewsberry train until this season. I think he's hopped off.

I don’t know why people are scared to hire re-treads or P5 coaches that maybe didn’t have as much success the first time. Is it my first choice? No. But if we miss on Stevens, Otz, May, and Drew then I’d take a look at someone like a Collins or Pitino.

Barnes is having way more success at UT than he ever did at Texas or Clemson. McDermott did not do well his first P5 gig. Otz while not P5 the mountain west is arguably better some years and he did not do well.

I’m sure there are others that fit into this category.

I understand not all success is a straight up path. Also, recognize that, Collins for instance, could do better at IU than NW with better resources. Having said that, why reward mediocrity? I believe the goal is for IU to hire the best option available, not merely someone that "isn't a complete train-wreck "or even "has some potential." Identify the best option and pursue. Repeat until you have a coach. Of course there will be trade-offs and sacrifices, there are no perfect options.

If the best coach IU can get it Richard Pitino, Jr? Well, I guess that mean Purdue is right, IU sucks and we get what we deserve.

To me, McCollum is maybe the most intriguing ‘what if’ candidate. Seems like the upside is astronomical, just no idea what his floor looks like being in charge of a D1 behemoth of a program. I’ve watched some Drake since Woody got canned and the deliberate offense isn’t nearly as mind numbing as I thought it would be just looking on paper. Ultimately I’d be pretty surprised if Dolson risked it on a guy with exactly zero Q1 experience but who knows.

Agreed- it's really not . The pace (# of possessions) is slow, but the offense is very efficient.

He's 20-11 in the NCAAT..... honestly, we deserve basketball purgatory for dismissing him, which you aren't necessarily, but.... idk. This is wild to me.

Trying to respect everyone else's opinion, but.... holy smokes guys.

Pretty wild that you're so dismissive of Cronin but consider Drew a home run. Yes Drew has a national title, and yes that inflates his overall NCAAT record, but Scott Drew is the king of first weekend exits. Honestly one of the biggest knocks on him, that and his teams generally don't play defense (which lead to early exits) and he's barely over .500 in the B12.

I say that and I like Scott Drew a lot. But Scott Drew and Mick Cronin are very similar coaches in my opinion and you're completely dismissive of one and falling over for the other.
