General Coach Candidate News

Bob Knight supported the Archie hire, even. He was very highly thought of by coaches and basketball folks around the country before being hired at Indiana. It wasn't like Glass just panicked out of anxiety and picked Archie Miller out of a hat. He sucked while he was here, but he was thought of as near of a can't miss as has been out there.

Archie personally had the intangibles on the court. He had the personality and charisma of a rabid raccoon in your trash can.

Coaching is like Teaching. It’s a skill that encompasses the entire human being. Hard to be a fantastic teacher if your personality sucks.

I hope we hire someone with basic interpersonal skills who’s also more exciting than a plain baked potato.

Yeah, I truly don't think the Archie hire was a miss at the time. He was the hottest name in coaching circles. He just didn't work out it happens.

Now....Mike Woodson was a terrible hire and Quinn Buckner sucks.

I don’t know what they are post-bball blow-up.  Before that I heard over the first three years of NIL they had raised $1-2M, but I’m not sure.

And yea it’s great HC has taken over.  I know some folks who run it and they’re great.

Tyler Harris is good people. Is Hartman still involved? It's hard to find their team anywhere.

He didn't specifically say Dolson but he said "I know the person making the decisions at Indiana. I speak, personally, to the very, very select few people who help make the engines go at Indiana. It isn't my opinion. It is a factual statement: Brad Stevens is not going to be the next coach at Indiana. If you think that or you heard that or holding onto it. You are Incorrect. You are being lied to."

That was the exact quote he said, plus a little more just saying the same thing a different way basically.

And the fact he is active on discord, x, etc is the reason I wouldn't tell him the truth either way before I'm ready for everyone to know it.

Yeah he was. However, that was not the big narrative surrounding him prior to being the Indiana coach. Again, he was highly lauded by just about everyone when he was hired.

Forgot to mention: someone throws a random name into the mix and the thread goes wild for about 5 pages

We have a weird bunch in here. Matt Painter might be right certain IU fans root for the bad stuff to happen so that can say I told you so.

Even if RTZ comes back with bad news will you celebrate it?

Just seems weird to me but everyone has to do themselves :-)

So everyone who doesn't believe RTZ roots for the bad stuff? I want BS to be the coach, but I don't believe in 90% of what message board insiders say, no matter the message board. Especially when evidence and logic is to the contrary. No offense meant on that, but getting wrapped in unlikely conspiracies doesn't mean certain fans root for the bad stuff.

Yeah, it just seems weird. He doesn't usually respond so blunt like that and just feels so weird.

Does seem odd.  Could  it possibly be that Dolson did drop that to Story knowing full well he would get the word out?  A way to tamp down any further Brad expectations?

That is not the Archie Miller that was at Dayton.  Personally met him a few times.  Was not coached by him.  Did not know him socially.  Never heard that before.

I don't think that he came across as the Dan D type.  Nor was he RMK.  He really did get dealt with unfairly by limiting his control of who to get rid of and the players did not buy into his pack line defense or team offense.

But it is the coach that has to fix anything that is broken.  He just could not fix the IU administration.

I did see that he got his dander up and would not flex much of his coaching schemes.  But hey.  He also was not allowed to bring in his PG.  Or get rid of the locker room mess.  And Romeo was injured early on...his shooting hand.

Maybe, just maybe, IU brought the Mr. Hyde out of him.  I did not see that.
